Phillip Stevenson of London won the cup for the third time, beating the runner up, J. W. Jowett of Bayfield by one stroke. BRUCEFIELD PRESENTATION.—On Friday ev- ening about twenty friends of the Mis- ses Evelyn Grainger and Jean Wat- son gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Aikenhead to spend a so- cial time with them, prior to their de- parture for Stratford where they en- tered training on Monday in the Gen- eral Hospital. The evening was pleasantly spent in games, contests, etc., and just before lunch the girls were the recipients of a handkerchief shower and an umbrel- la each which were presented }fr a novel way. At first appearance it appeared to be an umbrella shower, as the handkerchiefs were cleverly concealed inside the closed umbrellas. An address was read by Miss Eva Stackhouse, and - the presentations made by the Misses Mary McCully and Elsie Smith. The girls made a fitting reply of thanks for the gifts. Following the singing of "For they are jolly good fellows," a dainty lunch was served. DERBY DAY AT LUCAN 'Members of every' branch of Or- angemen in Western Ontario will gather today (Thursday) to celebrate. Derry . Women of the various church organ- izations as well as of the L.O.B.A. are planning to serve meals to the visitors. CRUSHED BY BINDER While still seriously ill, condition of James . Young, Ashfield farmer, and his son, Douglas, aged eight, run over by a faun binder last Thursday evening, was reported unproved to- day. Their conditon is surprisingly good for the injuries they sustained doctors said, but they would hazard no statement as : to the ultimate out- come. Mr. Young, who sought to rescue his boy' from under the .wheel of the 2,250 -pound binder, when he also was dragged .under when the horse bolted. and ran, away, suffered • extensive chest, abdominal and spine injuries, fatal' internal complications being feared from tine start.
