Weddings
Lebeau—Flynn
The marriage took place in Clinton,,
• ;at St. Joseph's; Church on Saturday,
May 29th, of , Edna Winnifred Flynn,
youngest daughter of Mr. Andrew
Flynn, to Maxum Anthony Lebeau,
sone of Mrs. Amelia Lebeau: Rev. M.
N. Sullivan officiated. The clnir•ch
was prettily decorated for the occas-
ion, with spring flowers and ferns.
r ..Mrs. G. Clayton played the, wedding
music, accompanied by Miss Lucy
Levy and Mr. Gerald Brown: The
bride was given in marriage by her
father. She wore a dress of thistle-
rose georgette with white mohair hat
••,and white .accessories. Her atten-
•dant was her sister, Mrs. Arnold Dale,
who wore flowered chiffon with large
_.yellow hat and white accessories.
Mr. Aylmer Lebeau was best pian.;

After the ceremony Mr. and Mrs.
Lebeau left on a motor trip to Re-
e .gins, Sask. '.There they will visit the
'`bride's sister, Mrs. W. E. Drew.
On their return they will live in
':Hullett.

The wedding took place at the Uni-
ted Church Manse, Stouffville, and
was performed by Rev, John McEwen,
uncle of the groom.
The bride was charming in a tail-
-.wed suit of white french t'xepe with
white accessories. She wore a cor-
sage of premier roses and white
sweet peas. The bride was attended
"'by Miss Nora Stewart, and Mx. Bob
'Cole acted as groomsman.
After the ceremony the bride and
groom left on a motor trip to Nor-
••anda, the former very smart in a suit
of grey flannel with white accessor-
ies. On their return they will live
' 'on the groom's farm in Stanley.

TUCKERSMITH
The Tuckersmith Ladies' Club met
at the home of Mrs. Ebner Townsend,
on Wednesday, June 2nd, with thirty
ladies and seven children present.
Roll call was responded to by a re-
eipe for , "My Favourite Salad." A
abort talk was given by the Presi-
dent, Mrs. C. Oke, on the benefits of
• seasonable salads. 'A debate, "Re-
• solved, that the Stay-at-home Mother
makes a better motherthan the Busi-
ness Mother," was given. The af-
firmative was upheld by Miss Sarah
Whitmore and Mrs, G. McGregor, and
"the negative by Mrs. F. Townsend

On Saturday morning, the home of
stir. and Mrs. Jas. A. Carnie, Stanley,
was thescene of a lovely spring wed-
ding when, their' elder daughter, Mary
Belle, was united in marriage to Glad-
win L. Westlake, son of Mr. and Mrs.
A. E, Westlake, Blue Water High-.

dal chorus, played by Mrs. George
Hess of Hensall, ,the . charming bride
entered the drawing room on the arra
of her father, who gave her in mar-
riage. The drawing room presented
a profusion of apple blossoms, tulips
and spring flowers.,
The bride was lovely in her exquis-
ite floor length gown of ivory lace
and satin enriched by bodice trim-
mings -etold.rose-point

lace. She carried a shower bouquet
of 'Talisman Roses and Maiden Hair
Fern. She was attended by her sis-
ter, Miss Jean Carnie, attired in a fil-
my blue floor -length gown of Mar-
quisette. over .matching taffeta. Her
bouquet was composed of pink Laddie
Carnations. •
Mr. Lawrence Talbot, of London,
cousin of the groom,' was best man,
and Rev. R. M. Gale, of Bayfield, of-
ficiated.
During the signing ,of the register
!Vas. George Hess sang, "I Love You
Truly."
Mrs. Carnie, mother; of the bride,
who was modishly dressed in a floral
grey chiffon; wore a corsage of roses.
The bridegroom's mother, Mrs. West-
lake, chose a navy sheer with a cor-
sage of Carnations.
A reception dinner was held in the
flower -decked dining room, served by
the Misses Ilene Talbot and Elizabeth
Snowden.
Prior to starting on a motor trip
along -the St. Lawrence River, the
bride donned a grey Imported English
coat with navy dress and matching
accessories.
On their return they will reside at
their home on the Bide Water High-
way,
were thoroughly dealt with, but the
judges, who were Mrs. J. McIntosh,
Mrs. R. Coleman, and Mrs. J. Car-
nochan, decided in favor 'of the affir-
mative. We are glad the stay-at-
home mothers won, because really
we would not like to see the business
mothers make the best mothers.
An instrumental solo was ably ren-
dered by Miss S. Whitmore. A con-
test was conducted by the hostess on
"An Old -Fashioned Dinner." This
was won by Mrs: McGregor and Miss
Whitmore. It was decided to have
a picnic instead of the July meeting.
This will be held on Wednesday, June
9th, at the S. S. No. 6 school grounds.
The meeting closed by repeating
the Homemaker's Prayer, and singing
"God Save the King,"
Services at Turner's Church will be
held on Sunday mornings during the
summer months. On Sunday, Jtme
6th, service will be at 10 a.m.

Thursday at Mr. M. Armstrong's in
Hallett.
Mr. and. Mrs. A. Corbett and Miss
Marie Corbett visited with Mrs. Petit
ick on Sunday last.

Wednesday last,

were with Mrs. Smith's parents, Mr.
and Mrs. C. W. Parker over the week-
end.
Mr. and Mrs. George Clark of De-
troit spent the week -end with the
former's parents, Mr. and Mas, Peter
Clark, Blue Water Highway,. Gode-
rich Township.
Mr. George Fisher, Waterloo, and
Miss Rubie Fisher, Kitchener, spent
Sunday with their aunt, Mrs. F. A.
Edwards.
The Misses Morley of Detroit were
at their cottage over the week -end.
Mrs. A. Millsap and family of Lon-
don are occupying one of the Burch
cottages in The Highlands for June
and July.
Dr. and Mrs. Alexander of London
are at their cottage for a few days.

Mr. Robert Middleton of Port Cre-
dit was a guest at the home of Mrs.

Mrs. G. W. King of Detroit and
daughter, Mrs. M. Cole, and babe of
Lansing, Mich., are • occupying her
cottage, "Ring's Bluff." Mr. M. Cole
was also here over the week -end.
Mrs. Shattick of Beverley Hills,
and Miss Hall of Los Angeles spent
Sunday and Monday in the village.

returned to Detroit on Monday after
having spent the week -end with their
parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. J. McLeod.

Mas. E. A. Saucier of Kitchener vis-
ited her aunt, Mrs, F. A. Edwards on

The May meeting of the London
Road' Community. Club . was . held at
the home of "Mrs, Wm, Falconer.
The meeting opened by singing the
Maple Leaf and repeating the Creed,
followed by a topic on "Garden
Plants" by Mr's. Geo. Falconer. Pat-,
rhes were then distributed for a
quilt.
At the close of the meeting'the hos-
tess served a dainty lunch.
The June meeting, will be held 'at
the home of Mrs. Norman' Tyndall.

A very interesting motion picture
entertainment was given in the Uni-
ted Church on Friday evening last by
Dr. Williams of Toronto. The pictures
were mostly taken in old London,
England, with a few in Scotland.
They were wonderfully true to life
and were thoroughly enjoyed by a fair
audience and much appreciated. The
Doctor explpined each one in his usu-
al jovial and able manner.
Mr. and Mrs. Win. Lyon had the
pleasure of entertaining, the Doctor,
and Mrs. Williams, over the week-
end. They left for their home in To-
ronto ou Sunday afternoon.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Thompson, Mr.
and Mrs. 3. P. Manning, spent last
Wednesday at .London.
Mr. Fred Thompson left. for Acton
on Monday morning when he has the
jobas relieving agent at that sta-
tion.
