Mrs. F. Dames of Brussels visited
with Mrs. Harry Bartliff last
week -end.
Messrs. Thos. Churchill and E. J. John-
ston have been on a hunting trip up
north the past fortnight.
Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Pinner of To-
ronto spent several days the past
week with the lady's mother, Mrs.
C. H. Bartliff.
Mrs, Adam Foster of Goderich at-
tended the funeral of her cousin,
the late Mrs. Frederick Cook, in
Clinton on Friday.
Mr. and Mrs. Robt. Hunter left Sat-
urday to spend the winter with
their daughter and son-in-law, Mr.
and Mrs. Vinton Loucks of Engles -
by, Ont.

Miss Mae Davies returned-Saturdaay
after a visit of several weeks with
her sister, Miss Margaret, in Chi-
cago, and with Mr. and' Mrs. Har-
ry Marsh in Detroit.
Mrs. M. D. McTaggart and Misses
Catharine and Janet left Friday for
West Pahn Beach, Florida, where
they intend spending the winter.
They went by motor, intending to
spend about a week on the journey.
Adjutant McTavish, Mrs. McTavish
and Miss Evelyn and Master Cam-
eron, were here over the week -end,
the former conducting the ser-
vices in the Salvation Ar-
' my Hall on Saturday and Sunday
and a special service in Wesley -
Willis church Sunday afternoon.
They had been visiting at Kincar-
dine, the Adjutant's former Horne,
and while in town were guests of
Mr. and Mrs. C. S. Hawke.
PORTER'S HILL
On Tuesday night last the Men's
Club had as guests the following spea-
kers: County Clerk J. H. Roberts,
Goderich; Warden B. Bowman, Brus-
sels; Reeve J. Eckart, McKillop;
Reeve R. Cardiff, Morris; Reeve R.
Turner, Goderich, and Reeve Wilmot
Haacke, Goderich township, The ev-
ening was well spent. A great deal
of information was given by these
men and the time was profitable as
well as pleasantly spent.,
Word was received by the Harrison
family of the death at Grand Prairie,
of a brother, William Harrison, who
was born and raised in this township,
but who has resided in the West for
a number of years. The funeral was
held on Monday from Clinton to Bay-
field cemetery. Sympathy is extend-
ed to the bereft ones.
Mr. and Mrs. Ben. Elliott of Wash-
ington arrived here on Thursday for
a visit with brothers Vic. and Thomas
Elliott, and sister, Mrs. Harrison.
On Sunday, Nov. 22nd, the building.
committee are having a special ser-
vice with Rev. G. G. Burton of On-
tario Street United Church, Clinton,
as speaker. They are asking for an
offering of $40 to go toward the debt
on the church.
On Thursday the Ladies' Aid had
their regular monthly meeting with
twenty members present. The after-
noon was spent quilting. A dainty
lunch was served by the. hostesses,
Mrs. Reid Torrance and Miss Dora
Harrison. .
Mr. Glen Lockhart was in London
on Friday on business.
