A quiet but pretty wedding took
place at, the Presbyterian manse,
Blyth, when Anna Marie Dobie,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William
J. Dobie was united in marriage to
'James Johnston, son of Mr, John
IJohnston, of Bluevale. The ceremony

The bride's costume was of rosegeor-
gette with white accessories. She
wore a corsage of roses, lily of the
valley and corn flowers. Miss Edith
Stoltz, of Auburn, supported the
bride. Eugene Dobie was grooms-
man. 'After the ceremony the bridal
party went to the home of the bride's.

to the Maritimes.

spending a couple of weeks with

Miss Dorothy Corless returned Sat-
urday after spending a fortnight
with friends in Stratford.
Misses W. E. O'Niel and Ida Walkin-
shaw returned last week -end from
a trip down the St. Lawrence.
Misses Isla Walkinshaw and Maud
Torrance are spending a couple of
days at Paris House, Goderich, this

Miss Luella Walkinshaw bas returned
after a boat trip up the Georgian
Bay to Point au Barris and a few
days' visit with friends in Toronto.
Mrs. D. M. Geddes of 1losetown,
Sask., who has been visiting rela-
tives in Ontario for some time,
spent last week as the guest of her
son, Dr. D. E. Geddes, at the Com-
mercial Inn.
Mr. and' Mrs. A. T. Cooper returned
Tuesday night after an eight
weeks' trip to England, where they
visited their son and his family and
a brother and his family anis thor-
oughly enjoyed a very fine holiday.
Mr., and Mrs. John T. Cottle of St.
Ignace, Mich., Mr. John. McLean,
Miss Idena McLean and Mr. Victor
Harrison of Sault Ste. Marie,
Mich., spent several days visiting
Mrs, J. T. Crich and other friends
in the vicinity.
Mr, and Mrs, Norman Garrett and
Mrs. Annie McCool leave today for
Flint, Mich. Mrs. McCool intends
remaining for a time with her
daughter there. Mr. and Mrs. Gar-
rett have been staying with Mrs:
McCool but Mr. Garrett must get
back to Elyth for the opening of
the school term.
Mr. E. Campbell, who has been spend-
ing a holiday with his wife and lit-
tle soli with the lady's mother, Mrs.
J. A. Ford in town and at Bayfield,
left the beginning of the week for
Calgary to be ready for the open-
ing of the school term. Mrs. Camp-
bell and Master Jimmie are remain-
ing for a longer visit.
Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Knight returned
Monday night after a pleasant
trip.. They motored to Toberniory,
took the boat to Manitoulin, then
on leaving the island motored down
by Little Current, North Bay, etc.,
and; of course, called to see the
Quints, who were just as interest-
ing as everyone seems to find
them. It was Sunday morning
when the Knights paid their call
and there were thousands of peo-
ple waiting their turn for a look
at the little ladies,
Mr. Phillips of London, Ont., was the
guest the other day of .Mr. W. H.
Watts. These !nen, who had been
boyhood friends in Ilfracombe, Dev-
onshire, England 'had not niet in
seventy years, and it goes without
saying that they had plenty to talk
about and many experiences to ex-
change after such a lapse of time.
But it was about the early days,
their boyish experiences, that their
tongues ran fastest. Mr. Philips,
who is a soap manufacturer in' Lon-
don, had but recently got word of
the location of his old-time friend
and he lost little time In looking
