The regular meeting of the Tuc-
kersmitlt Ladies' Club •was held at
the home of Mrs. Fletcher" Townsend
on May 13th. There were fifteen
members and two visitors present.
The roll call was an exchange of
seeds,.plartts, etc, 'The program con-
sisted' of a musical contest, readings
by Mrs. Landesborough and Mrs. F.
Townsend, and a plane solo by Miss
Sarah Whitmore. The next meeting
will be held at the, home of Mrs.
Gifford Crich on , June Srd, and the

from flour sacks."

The May meeting of' the Stanley
Community Club was. helcl at the
home of Mrs. Geo, Henderson with
eighteen members present. Roll call
was answered by an exchange of
vegetable and flower seeds.
A very interesting' program con-
sisted of 'readings by Mrs. Alex. Mc -
Ewan, Mrs. Neil McGregor and Mrs.
John H. McEwan. A solo by Mrs:
Cliff. Stewart was much enjoyed, al-
so one by the hostess, Mrs. Hender-
son who sung a "Mother's Day" solo.
Miss Johnson and Mrs. Henderson
also played a piano chiet.
The next meeting is to be belch at
the home of Mrs. John H. MdEwan,
roll call 'to be answered by "Advice
to the bride." •
A social hour was once enjoyed
before the gathering broke up.

Evidence Given.
Gordon Shaver, R.C., defence _coun-
sel in the trial of J. Howard Robert-
son, ,tax collector, • being tried ' in
Goderich, for alleged conversion of $7i-
'582 of the town's money, to his own
use, failed Tuesday to have the case
dismissed for lack of direct evidence
of guilt,
•• After a two-hour plea by- defence,
County Jticlge, T'.' M. Costello ruled
that there was sufficient prima facie
evidence of guilt to " proceed with
fui•theil evidence.
Defence in asking "dismissal, said
the report of the R. W. Johnston"
Company, St. Thomas, chairtered ae
countants, who made an audit of the
tax cellector's books in 1934-35. was
valueless. .

"I have no hesitation in saying
that in any court in ,the land it 15
not worth the paper it is written on,"
Mr. Shaver said. I•Ie claimed it
started nowhere and ended nowhere,
the books and records being in such
a 'muddle . that it was impossible for
any accountant to make sense out oi;
them.

Estate of John McKenzie, late of

County of Huron,, Esquire, deceased
who died on or about the Oth day of
April, A,D,, 1936, are required to de-
liver to Harry Collins, Brucefield,
Ont.,' or Joseph Richardsotl, Varna,
Ont., the 'executors of the said Es-
tate, or F. Fingland, Solicitor, on ,or

1936, a full statement of their claims
together with 'particulars thereof,
and rho nature of the securities, if
