St, Patrick's. Day was the occasion
of the celebration of the 65th birth-
day of Mrs. William Roberton of Au-
burn. Mrs. Roberton was formerly
Bertha May Whitney, daughter ; of
Mr.and Mrs. Henry. Whitney of
Prince Edward County. Mrs, :Bober-
- ton was born there but same to this
district 50 years ago. Her father was
accidentally .shot and killed by ..a
companion while duck hunting on the
Bay' of Quinte When Mrs -Roberton Y old.
was onlyseven ears
On F@b. 3, 1892, she was married
to William J. Roberton from her
'home on, the 8th of Colborne: They
were . marr`ied in Goderich by Rev.
J. Howell, then minister of North
Street Methodist .Church. Their at-
tendants, Mrs. Robert Rutledge, Col-
borne, and Robert Roberton, Clinton,
are both still living, The lFopple re-
sided ell, the groom's farm in Walk -
erbium, later moving to Westfield,
Ebenezer and the Base kine, Six-
teen years ago they retired to a farm
on the outskirts of Auburn.
They have a fainly of four, Roy,
!Detroit; Gladys, Goderich; Mildred,
near Lucknow, and Frank, Londes-
boro.
On Sunday afternoon at the - ser -
vire in the Baptist Church a happy
event took place, when the members
of the choir presented their choir
leader, Mrs, C. A. Howson, with a
beautiful bouquet of flowers, it being
the occasion of her birthday, she hav-
ing led in the service of song for
nearly twenty-eight years. Mrs.
Howson's father, the late Mr. Geo.
Asquith, led in the choir in the base-
line' church for many years before.
the church was, moved to Auburn.
Mrs. P. Walper presented the flowers.
aiid Miss Gladys Good read the fol-
lowing address:
"To our Choir. Leader, Mrs. How-
son: Of all the religions of the
World which have been taught in var-
ious tines and places, that which
God. gave to the World through his
Son, Jesus Christ, alone has the pow-

Another priceless gift which accom-
panied it, and which 3s found in no

appropriate because it was a hymn of
triumph of a life successfully coni-

in a similar manner has in every per-
