Mr.. and Mrs. Alfred Asquith are Harry Lauder, who favored with sev-
eral patriotic numbers, and Scotch
dancing by Miss Marion Bogie, ac-
companied by her father, Harold
Bogie on the bagpipes. Proceeds for
the evening amounted to $25.00
speaker and gave a splendid address
on "She Hath Done What, She
Could." Mrs. Kanner Lawson sang a
solo. . The roll call wasanswered by
a verse of scripture, A generous
thankoffering was received. The
meeting Was. closed by repeating the
Lord's prayer in unison. A. dainty
lunch was served by Mrs, J. C. Stoltz,
Mrs. Lawson, Mrs. Ross, Mrs. Rob-
ison and Mrs. Wilson.
Mr. Jack Weir returned to Toronto
Saturday to resume his studies at
Shaw's Business College.
At a special meeting of the C. G.
I. T. on Saturday it was decided to
put on a play in the Forester's Hall
on Friday, November "27th.
Anniviersary services will be held
in Knox Presbyterian Church on Sun-
day, November 5th. Rev. Hugh Jack
of Seaforth will be the guest speak-
er. .A. hot fowl supper will be held
in the basement on Monday, Nov. 6.
Snow made its first appearance
here on Saturday.
There Was no school in the public
and continuation school on Friday as
the teachers, Mabel Foster and Violet
Sharpe attended Teacher's Conven-

Mr. Clayton Ladd has a homer
pigeon which he sent down to Tor-
onto. It made the return trip on Sun-

with Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Roberton.
The Red Cross Society sponsored a
concert in the Forester's Hall Friday
night. Rev. H. 0. `Wilson was chair-
men' for the evening. The program
was a repeat of the Women's Insti-
tute Grandmother's Day program
with Harvey McGee, Huron County's
tiuietly celebrating their '56th wed-
ding anniversary on Sunday, Oct. 22.
Mrs. Thomas Wilson. returned on
Sunday after visiting her mother,

to hold a hallowe'en social in tate
church basement on Friday evening,

The W.M.S. held their Fall Thank-
-offering in the church on Thursday
with the president, Mrs. Lawson, in
charge and opened the meeting with
prayer. The scripture was read re-
sponsively followed by prayer by
Mrs. A. M. Boyle; Mrs. W. Bradnock
gave the secretary's report. An in-
vitation was read from the Blyth
'Society to attend their meeting on
October 19th which was accepted.

Mr. and Mrs. James Cameron, of
Hamilton, spent the weekend with his
aunt, Mrs. Neil McGregor and other.
friends.
Miss Ohristena McKay of Hamil-
ton is visiting her uncle, Mr. John
McCowan,. and other friends for a
few weeks,
Mr. and Mrs. Sari Hendrick, and
four sons of Grand Bend, visited Mr.
and Mrs. Victor Taylor, and also Mr.
and Mrs. Frank McGregor last Sun-
day.
The October meeting 'was held at
Miss May Gilmour's with twenty-fivle
members and three visitors present.
The Roll Call was answered by your
"Grandmother's maiden name, and
birthplace." .A. very short program
was given consisting of a reading by
Mrs. J. A. McEwan. A number of
bundles of clothing, yarn, toys and
other things were brought to the
meeting to be sent to the north. The
collection of $6 is to be given to the
children's milk fund. The November
meeting is to be held at Campbell's,
the Roll Call to be 'a "Remembrance
Day Verse". The meeting closed by
singing the National Anthem and
lunch was then served.

Successful anniversary serjices were
held in St. Helen's United Church on
Sunday, conducted by Rev. Andrew
Lane of Clinton who . preached two
very' inspiring sermons. The choir
gave some very suitable music in the
morning and in the evening was as-
sisted by a quartette from Lucknow
who favored with three lovely num-
bers. Rev. G. A. Larnard conducted
the services in Clinton,
