Miss Lucinda Reid
There died at her home in the vil-
lageon-Friday morning, October 6th
-after a lingering illness, a anember
;of a prominent: pioneer family of
-.'Stanley township in the person of
.:.Lucinda Reid, daughter of the late
Eliza A. Clarke and John Reid. The
deceased woman was born in Stanley
• -township mon 'the homestead (now
owned by Hobert Reid) between Bay-
. field and Varna, where she lived until
1910 when she came to reside in the
village. Of a cheerful disposition, she
. made -many friends and was an active
worker in the Presbyterian Church.
• She is survlived by one brother, Rob-
ert of Stanley township and four
sisters: Mrs. James Webster, of
Li cknow,•lVIrs. E. 1VIerner of Stanley
township, Miss Elizabeth Reid of
Toronto and Miss Margaret Reid at
_ home. The funeral, which was Priv
ate, was held from her late residence
_dn "Clan Gregor" square on Monday,
October 9th and interment made in
. Mayfield Cemetery. The service was
,conducted by Rev. Gordon A. Peddie
of Knox Presbyterian Church. The
,;pallbearers were: Kenneth Merner,
Joseph Richardson, Arthur Peck, W.
Clarke, Elgin Porter and K. Webster.
The many .beautiful floral tributes
testified to the high esteem in which
• - the deceased was held.
Mr. and Mrs. V. Quarrie of London
who spent the past five months at
'their home in the village, returned to
London last week.
Mr. and Mrs. R. T. Orr and Miss
Peggy Orr of Stratford spent the
weekend at their cottage here, clos-
ing it up for the season.
Mr. and Mrs. W. Tippett of Bill-
ings, Mont., are visiting the former's
another, Mrs. J. Tippett.
Mr. and Mrs. J. Brent of Toronto,
Bill, Jed, and Peter Tillman, John
. Mahar, and Jack Walker of London
were at the Tillman cottage over the
weekend.,

Hensell spent the holiday weekend

LUMBER YARD FIRE AT.
MITCHELL
Fire of an unknown origin destroy
ed one of the buildings in William
Eizerman and Sons lumber yard, at
Mitchell, on Saturday afternoon. It
was first noticed. by Norman Siemon
who was in the yard at the time,
and he attracted the attention of
Walter Burroughs who was working
across the river, and he in turn pas-
sed the word along to Miss Helen
Cheoros who telephoned in the alarm.
The building was .a frame "structure
and was partially filled with shavings
from the mill, so that in a very shag:
space of time it was a mass o;"
flames.
