THE HOME PAPER
Colts Tied With Lucan
The Irish Nine find themselves up
against Clinton in the race for top
position in the Iiuron-Perth League.
e
The Lucan lads you will remember
year, out in the finals lasty x, so
it appears the old rivalry will persist
again this year. The way things are
now either a sudden dden de
ash er home
and home games will have to be play-
ed
la yed to decide Which team will meet
the' thud team in the league, In any
event its going to be a tight squeeze
for either team. The Irishmen are
a good all round team and the same
applies to the locals. A combination
like that assures a good struggle for
the top rung of the ladder.
All this came about by reason of
Clinton's. win in Hensall Friday night.
Although the game only went five
innings it was worth watching. Hen-
sall tried out three pitchers, starting
off with M. Tudor, then Kiefer and
finally J. Tudor. Bob Draper carried
his own colours all the way on the
mound. The hitting was heavy from
our home town. boys. Jack Hawkins
the
smacked out a two base hit in
first; brother Hugh went one better
with a triple in the fifth and Draper
alsa connected fora double. Clinton
went to bat in the sixth and scored
three runs which were not counted
since darknes fell all too soon to end
a right good ball game.
So far we have not been advised
of the golfs next home gone. There
is a juvenile play-off game tomorrow
night with Hensall dishing up the
goods for the locals here. This game
should be worth watching.
