The April meeting of the Woman's
Association of Varna United Church
was held on April 13th at ,the par-
sonage. Ten ladies were present. The.
president, Mrs Roy Dawson was in
charge of the meeting. The opening
hymn was No. 500 "Take time to be
Holy." Mrs. Geo. Clark -read the
scripture lesson (Psalm 70) and the
Lord's Prayer was repeated in un-
ison. .he
nison..he minutes of the last meeting
were read by the secretary, Mrs. A.
Johnston, and adopted as read. Busi-
ness was then transacted. Mrs. Alex
McConnell gave the treasurer's re-
port. Hymn .502 was sung and Mrs.
Roy Dowson closed the meeting with
prayer. The remainder of the after-,
noon was spent at quilting and a
very enjoyable supper was served by
the hostess.

. The W. A: presented their play,
"No Men Admitted" at Benmiller on
Wednesday night,
. The W. M. S. and W. A. held their
meeting on Wednesday afternoon at
the home of Miss Acheson. Mrs. E.
Yeo, president of the W. M. S. had
charge of the meeting. After the op-
ening exercises Mrs, E. Potter gave
the chapter out of the Study Boolt
on "How to Live Together". Miss
Alma. Trewartha contributed a sweet
solo and Mrs. Pearce gave an Easter
reading. -Mr, and Mils. Laveley of
Lindsay both gave•interesting talks
and Mn Wilding closed the meeting
with prayer.

On Thursday evening, April 13th.,
about fifty neighbours; gathered. at
the home .of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Hog-
garth giving them a surprise party
in honour of their twenty-fourth wed-
ding anniversary. The evening 'was
spent in playing games and contests.
Lunch rounded out an enjoyable ev-
ening.
