Arrange for School Fairs
.A. meeting of representatives of all
the school fairs in the district and
School Inspectors J. M. Game, Walk-
erton, and E. C. Beacom and J. H.
Kincaid met in the Agricultural Of-
fice on Monday to decide the dates
and .prize lists for 1939 Mr. J.
'Shearer presided.'
A. change in the prize list was
adopted this year. Competitive
classes will be held only as follows:
grain, potatoes, roots, vegetables,
flowers, fruit, poultry and livestock,
public speaking and. recitations.
All individual competitive classes
involving academic or school work
were eliminated. In their place it
was arranged to have more compet-
itive exhibits or displays in the fol-
lowing subjects: Health, English,
Social Study, Natural ,Science, Art -
crafts, Monne Economics Agriculture
and Scienoe. The idea behind this is
to have the school fair prize lists
fit more closely the new school
curriculm. These exhibits or displays

Miss Catherine Plumtree- spent the
weekend with relatives in Toronto.
Miss R. V. Irwin has returned home
after visiting in Toronto and St.
Marys. -

Norman visited Tillsonburg friends
on Sunday.
Miss Marion Mason of Essex spent
the weekend with her parents, Mr.

Mr. Kenneth Elliott is making satis-
factory recovery at his home after
his recent illness although still
confined to bed..
Mr. R. H. Johnson has been con-
fined to his home the past week
with the prevailing 'flu.
Mr. N. W. Trewartha spent the
weeekend in Coniston with his
daughter, Rev. and Mrs. Peter Ad-
dison.
Mr .and Mrs, J. W. Nediger and
Betty Lou were in Toronto Last
weekend and visited at the home
of Mr .and Mrs Cecil VanHorne.

wak a weekend visitor at the home
of her parents, Mrs. and Mrs. W.
T. Hawkins.
Messrs. A. W. Groves and Ernest
Mittell are in London today attend-
ing the Norge Refrigerator Con-
vention being held at Hotel Lon-
don.
Mr .and Mrs. Franck, Walters, the
former who has been ill at the
home of his mother, Mrs. Robert
Dalrymple, have returned to their
home in Tuckersmith Mr. Walters
is somewhat improved in health.
Mr. J. C. Shearer was in Stratford
yesterday attending the Regional
Conference of agricultural repre-
sentatives and public school in-
spectors. He was. accompanied -by
Inspectors J. H. Kincaid' ana E. C.
Beacom.
will be arranged by the teacher and
pupils m the morning of the fan•,
and will either demonstrate a lesson
or be a display of work done in the
school on the subject. These exhibits
will n.ot be judged but a tour of the
exhibits wilt be arranged during the
afternoon of the fair, with the school
inspector and the teacher in charge.
The above arrangement was adopted
by all fairs in the county with the
exception , of Belgrave where the
competitive classes will still be con-
tinued throughout the prize list.
Tentative dates for the holding of
the school fairs were set and all will
be held early in September.
VALUABLE TIMBER LAND
BOUGHT AN WAWANOSH
Henry Wilson, Saratoga, has -dis-
posed of a valuable 50 acres of tim-
ber land in West Wawanosh to Henry
Ratz, who,' three years ago purchased
200 acres from the same man and
has since been operating a saw -mill
on .the property. The output of lim-
ber and wood has been very large,
and has attracted many sight -seers.
The lumber has been trucked to
Kitchener and other mints where
there is a good deinand for it.
