Clifford and Norman Cook of Woodstock visited on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Earl McKnight. A Borrie and School Club .has been .-organized at S. S. No. 3 Colbourne, (Young's School), The regular meet- ings will be the Monday before the Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Logan, and Beth of Owen Sound visited with Mr. and Mrs. John McKnight. Some 500 people attended the Fowl supper in Knox Presbyterian church on Friday evening. 'Visitors were present from Toronto, Owen Sound, Goderieh, Dungannon, Crewe, Clin e:on, Winghain, Blyth, Lucknow, •.Stratford, Whitechurch and surround- ing . communities. Following the supper .a concert was held in the • Forester's Hall. . Mrs, Jas. Roberton picked- a rose from her gardenoneday last week. Mr. Lloyd McLarty and Mr, Thos. Lawlor are building an open air •skating rink on the river flats. The regular monthly Meeting of bhe Women's Institute was held • in • the Forester's Hall on Tuesday with the president, ,Mr's. Lawson in •charge. The secretary read a letter 'from the Rainy River Red Cross ask- ing fora donation to help the fire sufferers, , also one from the Canad- ian National Institute for the Blind. la was agreed to. send $2.00 to each. St was also decided to accept the '•Government Grant of $3.00, It was •decided that the Inseetnte put on a 'eon:oert for the Inmates of the Huron • County Home in the near ' future. Mrs, Woods and Mrs. Ross to see after the transportation. Miss Amelia ''Mcllwain then favored with a, solo ''"Keep Smiling". The topic "League .of Nations and International Peace" ''was very ably taken by Mrs. How- ard Robertson. A musical contest "was oondtictod by Mrs. Gordon Tay- 'lor and Mrs. R. 3. Phillips, the first rilnize was Won by Mrs. Wes Brad- nook and second by Mrs. Georgo Hamilton. It was decided to ,hold the December meeting a week earl- ier on December 13th instead of De- cember 20th. Mrs. Woods and 'Mrs. E. Phillips were appointed to look after the exchange of Christmas gifts. It was also decided to have a quilting at one of the meetings In bhe near future. The singing of the National Anthem brought the meet- ing to a close after which a dainty lunch was served by the hostesses. Miss Josephine Weir, Mrs. J. J. Robertson and Mrs. George Sturdy. Mr. Stephen Medd of Woodstock called on friends here last Saturday. Mr. John Peffer and Mr. Weint of Kitchener and Mr. and Mrs. Irtvin of Wingltam visited with Wallace and Miss Margaret King on Sunday. Tuesday the first sleigh driven by John Lockhart appeared on main street. BAYFIELD Rev. Canon Q. Warner of London was present at the service in Trinity Church on Monday evening last when 'he baptized the infant son of Rev. and Mrs. W. G. Bugler. At the same service the rector baptized the small son of Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Watson. lIn his address on "Baptism" Canon Warner pointed out the responsibili- ties which not only the parents and God -Parents had taken on themselves 'But also all those present. Mr. and Mrs, George King left 'en Friday last to spend a week in Tor- onto. Miss Betty Gairdner of Toronto /was home over the weekend. • Mr. and Mrs. W. :R. Jowett left on Saturday for Florida where they Twill spend the winter. Their 'elder daughter Mrs.. Roy' Poth, and little son Ronald, of Caledonia accompan- ied them. Mr. Jas. Cameron and son, Evans, of Toronto were at their cottage over the weekend. ' Miss Mildred Cameron returned to Detroit on Thursday of last week: Mr. and Mrs.' Ie. B. Me- Questen concerning the route of the Blue Water` highway. We wish to correct an error which appeared in last week's issue when it was stated that Mr. and Mrs. Charlesworth of Toronto spent Sat- urday with Mi. and Mrs. Wm. Stur- geon. Mr. Ray Keys attended a banquet in Clinton Last Thursday evening put on by the Old. Time Club. Mr. and r Mrs. Jas. M. Reid of Clinton spent Wednesday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Keys and fancily. The November meeting of the Women's Association was held at the parsonage on November 10th in the form' of a quilting, the quilt was for Miss Katherine Peters. Meeting op- ened with Hymn 187 "Break Thou the Bread of Life", followed by the Scripture for the day, taken from the Upper Roono and read by Mrs. J. R. Peters.' The Lord's. Prayer was then repeated in unison. Minutes were read by secretary. Mrs. Roy Dowson and adopted as read. Six ladies an- swered roll call. President Mrs. Ings reported $4.25 had been paid in last monthfor quilting. -It was decided to withdraw the December meeting on account of other activities. Col- lection 85e. Meeting closed with The Mizpah Benediction. The ladies then quilted the remainder of the afternoon. We are sorry to ,report Me, John McAsh is still confined to his bed, we hope he will soon be around again. • Friends and neighbors of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph -Turner gathered at their home on Thursday evening to cone gratulate them on 'their recent mar- riage, and to present thei•with many beautiful and useful gif `s. • A very r wasrel Pitting' address by Mr, Stewart McInnes to which both Ralph and Jeanette replied, thanking their friends.' Music during the even- ing wast supplied by Mr. Wm. Hay- ter, a dainty lunch was served and everyone enjoyed a splendid evening. The memorial service held in. Varna an Novecnber 1.1th at 10 am. was taken by Rev, Me. Wright of Beueefield, assisted by the officiat- ing pastors„ of elle churches here. After the service in the hall the pro- cession marched to the soldier's monument' to place wreaths 'there in honour of our Stanley boys who lost their lives during the war. Mr. and Mrs, Habkirk and child- ren visited Mr. and Mrs, Nelson Reid on Sunday. Mrs. 5 .B. Williams of Sonis,' Man, is spending a few days in London be foie returning to her home. Dr. Harveys Reid and . family of Toronto spent the weekend the guest of his mother and brother. Mre.
