The members of the board of Ball's "Cemetery and. the :caretaker, Mr. A - Ball met at the cemetery last week and arrangements were made to plant a cedar hedge at the front to take the place of the fence. Mr. Reg. Asquith has resumed his studies at Queen's University, King- ston. Miss Susy Blair spent the week -- .end with Mr. and Mrs. John Robert - .son of Goderich. Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Robison, Mr. -and. Mrs. R. J. Philips and Mrs. F. Ross attended Winghasn Fair on 'Thursday. Mr. Phillips was a judge of the horse -racing. Mrs. James Howitt has returned to "her home here following a visit with -her daughter, Mrs. Hugh Chesney -and Mr. Chesney,. Messrs. W. T. Riddell, Jas, W. Blair served tea to the ladies. ' Anniversary services • are being 'held in Knox United Church next Sunday, October 9th at, 10,30 a.m. .and 7.30 p.m. The special speaker ':for the day..will be the Rev. A, A. '.Laing of Woodham. Mr, Laing was pastor of the church from 1912-1915. 'Special music will be : rendered at these services. Ther Tennis CIub are holding a moving picture in the Foresters Hall on this Friday at 8 p.m. The pie - 'tures, are being shown by Rev. R. 'M. Weekes, The proceeds go to- ward the expense of fixing up the ''tennis court this year.. The 'Walkerburn Ladies Club met last Wednesday et the home of Mrs: Alkines hall. The members tied'a quilt at the first of the meeting, the top of the quilt being donated by Mrs. James Webster. The following pro- gram was given. The Lord's Prayer was repeated in unison and the Roll Call answered by a verse of' Scrip- ture. Robertson and Miss E. Elkin. Buckwheat cutting is in progress d now; and it is reported that spine farmers were unable to cut it with - binders and they had to use mowers. A number of Hien from here went to the assistance of the Beniniller men in fighting the Benmiller store fire last Thursday morning. Wilson, when Verna Isobel Vin- cent, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Percy Vincent of East Wawa - nosh, became the bride of Joseph Lloyd Miller of Auburn, second son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Miller of Windsor, The bride 'was becomingly gowned in a frock of rust crepe with snatching accessories and carried a pretty bouquet of white carnations. Miss Marie Vincent of Clinton was her sister's bridesmaid and was at- tired in a costume of wine crepe with Matching accessories. Mr. Ed- ward Miller of Windsor, brother of the groom, was groomsman. Follow-- ing ollowing the ceremony the party motored to the bride's parents home where a wedding dinner was served to im- mediate relatives of the families. Latgr the couple left on a honey- moon to be spent at Simcoe and oth- er points. On their return they will reside on the groom's,farm just east of Auburn. David Arniatrong of Pilot Mound, Man., and Mr. Ralph Stephenson of Varna were callers last week on Mr, A. B. Stephenson, Bayfield Line. Congratulations are due the pupils of S. S. No. 10 and their teacher, Miss Dorothy 'Henderson for their success at Hayfield. Fair.
