The Lenten services of the past
two weeks in our churches have been
a great success and many splendid

her 91st year.
Harrison. Mr. Erland Betties, To-
ronto, at his brothers, Allen Betties,
on Sunday, Both son's° spent
the day with their mother, Mrs. Thos.
Betties, who is confined in a hospital
in London. We understand Mrs. Bet-
ties' condition is slightly better. -Mr.
and Mrs. Hall and children, Wing-
ham, spent the holiday with Mr. and
Mr,s Harry Powell and other rela-
tives. Mr. and Mrs. Powell motored
to Wingham for then. Friday.
Mr. and Mrs. John. Blair received
word Saturday that their, grandson,
Larry Doyle, Buffalo, had been ser-
iously injured in a car accident. We
understand the little fellow had his
right leg amputated above the knee,
also his arta broken.
Miss F. Roberts, Goderich, took a
weak spell while leaving the church
after morning service and fell, hurt-
ing her back. She was brought to the
home of Mr. and Mrs. G. G. Newton
where she is being nursed back to
health.
Mr Vic. Elliott, who suffered a
heart attack, is recovering nicely.
Mr. Pete Young, who has been
quite ill all Winter, remains much
the same the last few • weeks. We
hope these beautiful spring days he
will regain some of his old time ac-
tivity.
The Young People's Society of
Bayfield visited the X.P.S. of Por-
ter's Hill on Wednesday night. A
very profitable and pleasant time was
spent. Miss McMath gave the topic
which was based on an old poem
most of us memorized at public school
"Here has been dawning another blue
day, Think wilt thou let it slip use-
less away." She brought out very
thoughtfully the true meaning of the
words; just how useless many of us
let these days slip by. Mr. Hellyar
had charge of the games and con-
tests. A good lunch was served and
all felt a profitable evening had been
enjoyed,
Sympathy is extended to the Me-
Dougall family in. the Loss of a wife
and mother. Mrs. McDougall will be
missed at our W. A., where she help-
ed when health permitted.
