IN THE LETTER BOX ` ;telentl laical I I Ie ag t;+r~ e 1►
Uplands, Ottawa
28th November, 1941
Mrs. R ,.1-I. Johnson,
The Clinton War Service Assoc.,
Clinton, Ontario.
Dear Mrs. Johnson:—
You can't imagine how surprised
I was to receive your very kind gift
est week. The mail man left a slip
on my bed saying there, was a parcel
at the post office for me, and you
should have seem the rush I made to
see what it Was, being the first par-
cel I have had the pleasure of receiv-
'ng
Only then did 1 realize the real
enjoyment the "boys" overseas must
know when a parcel is delivered to
them, much more so than even here
•n Canada. There is a tendency for
the "folks at home" to be discouraged
occasionally in the face of continual
anxiety for their sons afar, but if
there were a way of knowing the sin-
cere appreciation theforces have, for
any gifts, no matter how small,, they
should be far from sad. War Ser-
vice Associations, like your own, are
doing a far more important job than
they think, and their praises can not
be sung too often.
I do feel just a wee bit guilty in ea.
Icepting (these glavtes, inasmuch as
some chap in England might need
them a little more. Nevertheless I
would like to express my very hearty
thanks, and hope than I will have the
pleasure of meeting you, Mrs. John-
son, when I can manage to get to
Clinton for a weekend.
Wishing you the very best for the
Christmas Season, and hope the New
Year finds you in the very peak of
health and happiness.
Yours gratefully,
GLEN McGILL
