EBENEZER
The members of the Y.P.U. attended
the Regional School in Beruniller
church on Friday night. The meeting
was in charge of Ebenezer Y.P.U.'
Elwin Merrill presided at the meeting
with Mr. J. Bates at the piano. The
theme for the meeting was "Friend-
ship," The scripture reading and
prayer were given by Marianne' Mer-
rill. The topic was given by Joy Lobb.
After this session of the meeting de-
votional classes were held under the
'leadership of Rev. G. Hazelwood and
Rev. H. Wilding. The School for this
week is to meet at Holmesville church
on Friday night with Benmlller Y.P.U.
lin charge .of the meeting.,
The Y.P.U. has been collecting for
the Labrador Milk Fund and Five
Dollars has been donated to this fund.
Mrs. W. J. Carter spent a few days
in Toronto this. week.

Joseph Sloman in London on Tues-

A pad Bereavement
Gordon Irwin, veteran baseball pit-
cher for Goderich and other teams
over a long stretch of years, was ber-
eaved last Saturday morning by the
death of his wife under distressing
circumstances. The late Mrs. Irwin,
who had not been in good health for
some time, was missing from her
home when the family rose on Satur-
day morning. After a search her
body was discovered in a cistern in
six feet of water. The husband and
three children survive. The funeral
was held at Lucknow on Tuesday
from the family home in West Wawa -
nosh. An auction sale had been held
at the Irwin farm the day before the
tragedy and the family was preparing
to move to MitchellGoderich Sig-
nal Star.
Mr, and Mrs. Dia. Cornish had, as
their guests over the weekend, Mr,
Jack Strangleman and Miss Muriel
Hutchinson of London and Cpl. Cy-
ril Cornish of the R.O.A.F. at Ayl-
mer.
