Lawson, Clinton; Rev. Miss Reba Hern and Messrs. Stephenson and Hayter of Varna; Messrs. Wilson. and Patterson of Brucefield; members of the R,A.F. choir from Poet Albert; Holinesville male quartette; and School children's chorus. AUBURN -Mr. and Mrs. John Graham of De- troit are visiting, Mrs. Fred Ross. Miss Amelia McIllwain spent a few days with friends at Clinton. Mr. and Mrs. Earl McKnight and family spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Reg. Carter of Woodstock. Mr. and Mrs. Herb. Mogridge, Mrs. M. Arthur and Mrs, Wm. Straughan visited friends in London last Thurs- day. Mr. 'and Mrs. A. P, Walker and : Misses Barbara and Mary Walker of Toronto spent Saturday here. Mr: and Mrs, Percy Gibbs of De- troit spent the weekend with Mr,and :Mrs, Harvey McGee. Mrs. Fred Ross and Donald Russ attended Anniversary Services at Port Albert United church on Sunday when Rev. Gilbert Gomm of near Hagersville and former pastor of Dungannon Presbyterian church was the guest speaker. Miss Edna Longman and William 'Simpson of London were recent visi- tors with Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Yurg- blut, Mr. and hiss. Wm. Thompson visi- ted .friends in Exeter last week. Mr. Thomas Hallam has purchased the house and lot of the estate of the late Mr. Alexander MacKenzie and tools possession the lst of October. Mr, and Mrs. Fred Sears' and two eM1dren of Goderich have moved into the house formerly occupied by the late Levi Marwood. Mrs. Stanley Strasser has return- -est to her home in Sault Ste. A. on Wednesday evening, Sept, 24th, and group No. 3 en Monday evening, Sept. 29, an en- joyable tithe was had by the ladies. Mr, John Smith is visiting Mr. and Mrs. Smith of Wingham. Mr. and Mrs, IL Morris of Sarnia spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs, J. K. Cornish. ' Mr. and Mrs. F. McLaughlin and daughter of Montreal spent a few days with Mr. and Mrs. Ross Scott. Mr. L. Reid of Toronto visited with Mrs, L. Jamieson. Miss Anna Cornish is at her home here recuperating from a ear acci- dent in which she hurt her knee quite seriously. We hope she will soon be better, Mrs. Ross Scott entertained group No. 1 at quilting on Monday. Jimmie Paterson has returned home from the Clinton hospital, Mrs. A. T. Sett and Elizabeth and Mrs, C. Ham spent Monday in Lon- don. Wedding Bells will soon ring In our village, Miss June Murdock spent the weekend with Miss Norma Collins, Mr. Harry Collins of Western Un- iiiversity, London, spent the weekend at his home here. V After War Conditions Pre- viewed at W. I. An address on "Peace and Interna- tional Relations," given by George H. Jefferson, principal of the Clinton Public School was a highlight of the 'meeting of the Women's Institute held in the Agricultural Board Room (last Thursday afternoon, Mr. Jof ferson's talk was an interesting pre- view of world conditions in postwar ;years and was heard with much in- terest by the Institute group. The president, Mrs• E. Adams, was Lin the chair and Mrs. P. Hearn at the piano. It was decided to" invite the Auburn Institute for the October meeting; also, to sell tickets. for a quilt now completed, the proceeds to 'go to some branch of war ,service. 'The Institute will also undertake some badly needed work at the ladies' rest room.
