Mrs. :Robertson at London, James Huston of Camp Borden spent a couple days this week with his parents Mr, and Mrs. John Hus- ton,. Arch Deacon Edward Haughton, Springfield, Ill., is visiting his sister, Mrs, Chas. Asquith and Mr. Asquith, Mrs. Mice Robb who has been a resident of the village for the past six years is proving to Lucknow. Quite a large number from here are attending the Toronto Exhibition. Mrs, John Finlayson has returned to her home in Seaforth after a weeks visit with her sister Mrs. Edgar Lawson and Mr. Lawson. Gordon Miller hi training at Lon- don spent the weekend with his aunt Mrs, Rich Finnigan and Mr. Finn:• gap.. Anderson -Lawson The home of Rev. Dr. J. H. Barn- ett retired Presbyterian clergyman, of Goderich was the scene of a pretty wedding- on Saturday at high noon when Mary Jean Bernice Lawson of Auburn only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Lawson of Auburn was united in marriage to William J, Oliver Anderson younger son of Mr. and Mrs, William Anderson, of Aub - burn. The bride looked charming in a beige redingote dress with match- ing accessories. She wore a corsage of Peerless red roses. They were at- tended by Miss Josephine Weir of Amhara who wore a navy sheer red- ingote dress with matching accessor- ies and wore a corsage of punk Briar- cliff roses and Victor Yungblut, of Auburn. Following the wedding din- ner served to the immediate relatives at the Park House, Goderich, the young couple left on a honeymoon to be spent at Georgian Bay, The bride travelling costume was black sheer dress and black Coat and hat and accessories to match. On their return they will reside on the grooms farm in East Wawanosh. Trousseau Tea The home of Mr.' and Mrs. Edgar Lawson was prettily. decorated with baskets of gladioli last Wednesday when a trousseau tea was held for their daughter Miss Bernice Lawson. The guests were received at the door by Miss Jewell Me0linchey. The lovely trousseau, was displayed by Miss Josephine Weir of A b 1 china by Mrs. Ray O'Neil, of Park- hill, the beautiful Thiene by 1VIrs. Wesley Bradnoek and the many lov- ely gifts by Miss'. Laura Phillips. The dinning room was decorated with pink and white streamers and a large white wedding bell. A pretty lace table cloth covered the dinning table at which Mrs. William Anderson, Auburn' and Mr•s, John Finlayson, Seaforth, Mrs. A. J. k'erguson, Au- burn and Mrs, F. 0.'-McIilveen, Bow- nianville poured tea assisting with the serving 'were Mss. L. Himberger, Miss Marion Sclater, Seaforth, cous- ins of the bride-to-be and. Mr. and Mrs. Bert Stephenson and Mrs. Leo Stephenson 'and Billy, and Donald motored to London on Sunday to visit Mr. Leo Stephenson, who is at the Thames Valley Camp. Sunday Visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Ferguson were, MT. and Mus, Mac. McKellar and Mrs. Black of Toronto, Miss Isobel, Miss Margaret, and Mr, and Mrs. Geo. Carter. Mr, Lorne Lawson was in London on Monday on business, Mrs, Joe Riley entertained Mrs. Ferguson's group to a Red Cross quilting on Thursday last. Mrs. John Ferguson's group had a Red •Cross quilting 'at the home of Mrs. J. W. Carter on Tuesday, two quilts were quilted. V Plans Laid For Goderieh Meet Given fine weather, the British War Victim's Funcl should be swelled considerably by what has been adver- tised as a swimming gala and street fair, to be held in Goderieh on Satur- day under the auspices of Port Albert- Goderieh Lions Club and Goderich Board of Trade. . Teams from the R.A.F., R.C.A.F,, Sky Harbor, United States Air Corps, United States Marine and the R.A.F., Clinton, will compete in service aq- uatic events. Some of the best swim- mers and divers ever gathered in Western Ontario are now in this area. There also are four open events for men and women, a bathing beauty contest for the title of Miss Lake Huron and a swimming exhibition by the Mermaids Club, of Toronto. The final of the bathing beauty contest will be held at the evening carnival. The R.A.F. Band and Lucknow Pipe Band will provide the music:.
