Five quilts were quilted one being
donated by Mrs. "Wm. Jackson, of
Toronto. About 35 were present. A
'pot luck supper •was served.
On Monday afternoon ,the pack
ing comntittee,.hirs, Herb Mogridge,
Mrs. Pi 'Ross and 'Miss Josephine
Weir .packed a bale containing the
following articles: 13 quilts 12 boys
•:suits;12 girls dresses; 2 pair of boys
pyjamas; 12 pair of mens pyjamas;
24 Hampton .pads; 2 pneumonia
jackets; 1. hospital gown; 7 gauze
handkerchiefs; 30 army socks; 2
scarfs; 6•helmets and 4 pair of mens
mitts,
The "Big Night" held on the play
grounds on Wednesday night was- a
::huge success. The Blue Boys Concert
. Party of the R.A.E. put on an excep-
tionally excellent .program of solos,
choruses and readings. 'There were
various amusements such as bingo
crown and anchor and ring the mon-
•.ey as well as a refreshment booth,

. Arthur's. ,orchestra. providing the
Asquith.
Mrs. Carrie Armstrong and little
George Dawson are visiting friends
in Toronto.
Mr, Ted Mills of Toronto was a
visitor here on Saturday.
The monthly meeting of the Wom-
en's institute was held in the For-
esters Hall on Tuesday with the pres-
ident Mrs. Lawson presiding. The
meeting was opened by singing the
"Ode" and repeating the Lord's Pray-
er in unison, The secretary's report
was read and adopted, Miss Ila
Craig favored with a piano instrum-
ental ,Mrs, Jas Woods and Mrs. Gor-
don Taylor gave splendid report of
the District Annual which was re-
cently held in Wingham. The Cur-
rent Events were given by Ruth
Adele Frost. Mrs. R. J. Philips gave
a reading. Miss Margaret King gave
a report of the years work. The roll
call was answered by "My Favorite
Flower!". The singing of the Nat-
ional Anther brought the meeting to
a close. A dainty lunch was served
by the hostesses Mrs. Charles Strau-
ghae, Mrs. J. J. Wilson and Mrs, J.
C. Stoltz.
Clydesdale Field Day
The Clydesdale Field Day will be
held at the Agricultural Fair Grounds!
in Seaforth on Saturday afternoon, l
June 28th, starting at 1.20 p.m.l
There will be a general discussion en
Clydesdale type and the place of the!
Clydesdale in Ontario agriculture A-
meclal rnovided by the Ontario Clyes-�
dtale Club will be given to the Junior
and Senior Judge who most success-
fully ,daces the classes of Clydesdale
being used in the afternoon. The
ring master will be Prof. M. W. Stap-
les of the Ontario Agricultural Col-
lege. Among those to take part in
the program. are; J. W. Wheaton,
Secretary of the Ontario Clydesdale
Club; Dr. J. R. Fowler, 0.V.C. Guelph;
Dr. J. A. Sinclair, of Cannington and
Prof. R, G, ICnox, 0,LC. Guelph. The
guest of honor will be Donald Wilk-
insert of Harriston and S B. Strothers
of Arthur. The local committee is
composed of Doug. Fotheringhain,
Seaforth; James Leiper, Londesboro;
Wm. Dale, Seaforth; Chas Lindsay,
John 11. McEwan and J, C. Shearer,
all of Clinton.

little daughter, Vora Stewart, is vis-

Mr, Charles Stewart,, who has been
with his brother .Adatn for the past
eight months has gone back to his
home in Alberta.

WEDDINGS
MCLACHLAN—DOLMAGE
A pretty wedding. was solemnized
on Saturday, June 14th, at the home
of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Dobnage,
McKillop Township, when their only
daughter, Muriel Agnes, became the
bride of Robert Elgie McLachlan, on-
ly son of Mr. and Mrs. John A. McLa-
chlan of Tuckersmith Twp, To the
strains of the wedding march, played
by Margaret Habkirk the bridal party
took their places ou the front porch
which was prettily decorated with
pink and white flowers and streamers.
The bride who was given away by her
father looked charming in a floor
length gown of white Point d'Esprit
with lace bolero. She wore a bridal
veil with halo of orange blossoms
and ,carried a sheaf of pretty roses
Miss Eva Holland, Clinton, the bride's
only attendant, wore a floor length
gown of pink taffeta and carried pink
and white carnations, Russell Dol -
mage, brother of the bride, was
groomsman. The ceremony was pre-
formed by Rev. A. W. Gardiner of
Egmondville, During the signing of
the register, Miss Habkirk sang, "0
Perfect Love." A wedding dinner was
served to 50 guests in the dining
room which was prettily decorated in
pink and white. The bridegroom's
gift to the bride was a chest of silver;
to the bridesmaid, a' silver cake tray,
and to the soloist, a silver pickle
dish. Later Mr. and Mrs. :McLachlan
left on a motor trip to Peterborough,
Trenton and Niagara Falls. The
bride travelled in a teal blue stilt with
white accessories, and wore a silver
fox fur. On their retain they will
reside on the bridegroom's farm in
Tuckersmith Township.
HORNER—HUGILL

athan Hugill of Seaforth was tha.
scene of a charming wedding on Wed.,
June llth, when their youngest
daughter, Marion, became the bride
of Mr. Gordon Alvin Horner, only
son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Horner,
Varna. Rev. H, V. Workman of the
Northside United church, Seafolrth,
officiated. The hose was attract-
ively decorated with pink and white
streamers and bouquets of pink and
white peonies, orange blossoms and
roses. The table was centred with a
four-story wedding Gaye, pinp tapers
and pink and white roses in silver
vases.
Given in marriage by her father,
the bride wore a long gown of white
embroidered lace over satin, Her
veil of embroidered not with long
train was caught in cap style with
lilies of the valley. She carried a
bouquet of Talisman roses, The
bride's attendants were Miss Verna
Hugill, sister of the bride, as maid of
honor, wearing a floor -length gown
of poudre blue sheer, full skirt and
bolero; and Miss lona Hugill, also a
sister of the bride, as bridesmaid!,
wearing a frock of pink taffeta.
Their -broad -brimmed hats were of
leghorn and they carried bouquets of
pink roses. Mr. Arnold Rathwell,
Clinton, eousin of the groom, was best
Man, and Clifford Hugill, brother of
the bride, was usher, Mrs. Robert
Stirling played the wedding march
and during the signing of the regis-
ter, Miss Eva Holland sang, "I Love
You Lruly." A buffet luncheon was
served to about 45 guests by the
waitresses, Julene Stephenson, Lois
Rathweli, Eva Holland and Joyce
Carter. The bride's mother wore
blue sheer, and the bridegroom's
another a dress of shnilae shade. Each
wore a eoreage of pink loses and
maidenhair fern. The bridgegroom's
gift to the bride was a chest of Sil-
verware; to the maid of honor a
compact; bo the bridesmaid a bracelet
and to the best man a watch bracelet.
Mr. and Mrs. Horner left on a motor
trip to points north, the bride wear-
ing pink sheer with white accessories
Upon their return the young couple
will reside in Varna.
