Phillips, Mrs, Rory MacDonald of Dungan- non visited on Friday with Mrs. F. Ross. Mr. and Mts. A. Wilkins and Miss Vera Wilkins of Goderich visited on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. George Dawson.. Communion will be dispensed next Sunday morning in Knox Presbyter- : 'pan church, Mr, and Mrs. Harold Nicholson of Fund was held in the Forester's Hall last Friday night with music by Arthur's Orchestra of Wingham. The door prize went to Evelyn Fleet- zer and Harold Webster. The B.Y.P.U. met Sunday night with Donald Ross in charge. Glen Raithby read the scripture and Har- old Reid led in prayer. A trio com- posed of Marie Raithby, Shirley and Emma Robertson sang a number;, Amelia McIlwain gave a reading, and Donald Ross offered prayer. Marjorie Johnston gave a reading. Vivian Straughan favoured with a piano instrumental. Mrs. Richard McWhinney. of Dungannon was guest speaker and spoke on "Life". A girl's quartette sang a number. Mrs. Jackson closed the meeting with prayer. The May meeting of the Women's Institute was held in the Forester's Hall on Tuesday with the president Mrs. Lawson presiding. The meeting was opened by singing the "Ode" and [repeating- the Lord's Prayer in un- ison. Mrs. Lawson, Mrs. Woods, Mrs. Gordon Taylor and Mrs. Ross were appointed delegates to attend tite Districts Annual at Wingham on May 28th. The roll call was answered by paying of fees. Miss Josephne Weir favored with a solo. Miss Mary As- quith gave a very interesting talk on '"Chlorofyll." Mrs. Fred Oster of Blyth District President for West Huron was present and •spo'ke on The Co -Operative program. She al- so gave a splendid report on the con- vention held in London. A hearty vote of thanks was extended to IVirs. Oster for her splendid address by Mrs, Jas. Woods and was seconded by Miss Sadie Carter. After the sing- ing of God Save the King a dainty lunch was served by the hostesses Mrs. J.J. Robertson, Mrs, Howard Robertson, Mrs. Wm. Dobie and Mrs. H. Armstrong. Perdue has complained to me respecting certain statements alleged to have been made by me at a committee meeting of the Board of Education held on May lst. He complains that these statements were slanderous and might affect his good name I do not agree that anything I may have said was of a slanderous nature. I am sorry Mr. Perdue thinks so, There was no intent on my part to reflect in any way upon his Character nor to injure his rep- utation and, if anyone should think that my remarks were of such a nat- ure, I wish to take this public opport- unity to express my regret and to retract such remarks as might be thought improper. My friendly relations with Mr:. Perdue have obtained for a great many years, in fact since boyhood, and I sincerely hope they may con- tinue until the end. Yours sincerely, C. G. MIDDLETON.
