old, and is survived by his wife for-
merly Agnes Bruce of Goderich
township. Interment was' in Mait-

Mr, and Mrs. Ernest Patterson at-
tended the funeral at the first -of the
week -of Mrs, John Leitch' of Toronto.
Mrs, Leitch was a sister of the late
Mrs. Robert. Melrose.
Mrs. Jeremiah Taylor is visting
:lher daughter, Mrs. Lloyd Raithby, of
Goderich.
The W:M,S. of Knox Presbyterian
church - will hold their Easter
Thankkoffering' in the church base-
ment next Thursday, April 17 at 2,30
. p.m. Miss Dorothy Douglas, of
Lucknow will be guest speaker.
Miss Douglas is a missionary on fur-
longh'froin Formosa.
The Red Gross Society held a
quilting Wednesday afternoon in the
Baptist church baseinent- with -souse
40 ladies in attendance, Six quilts
were united and a pot -luck supper
was served.
Miss Dorothy Wilson, and Hugh Ben-
nett attended • alec elation at Seaforth
le on Saturday night for Mr. and Mrs.,
Harold Nicicolson (Beryl Wilson), of
Galt. Dancing was enjoyed in the
earlier part of the evening, Follow-
ing lunch, Mr. and Mrs. Nickelson
were called to the platform and pre-
, sented with two occasional chairs

church was held at the home of Mrs.
W. C, Robertson with the president

Nickolson of Wingham who passed
away suddenly Wednesday night.

six years. Mr. Nialeolson is well I

funeral was held Saturday afternoon,

their monthly meeting last Tuesday

Prayers were offered by Miss Ring
and Mrs. James Woods, Bible read-
ings were given by Miss Sadie Car-
ter, Mrs, 0. E. Erratt, Miss ',hale
Blair, Mrs. Janes Murch, Mrs, Wm.
Haggitt, Mire, Herb Mogridge and
Mrs, George Bean; Mrs. Fred
Plaetzer sang a solo, and Mrs. A. J,
Ferguson gave a dreading. The her-
ald, on Korea was given by Mrs. H.
'C. Wilson, -on temperance by Mrs.
Ernest Patterson and on Christian
':stewardship by Mrs, Earl Wightman.
The topic on "The Apostles of the
'Outpost" was ably given by Mrs,
Fred Toll. Mas. Earl Wightman and
Mrs. Sheppard were appointed del-
'egates to the sectional meeting to
;be held in Thames Road church. Rev,
H. C. Wilson closed the meeting with
prayer,
At the sale of the Thomas Ham-
-Mon estate Wednesday: afternoon the
Hamilton house on Main street was
purchased 'by James Webster, of
West W. awanosh, The purchase price
was '$1,000, Chas. Beadle bought, a
:sinali lot for $25. The farm on the
• 8th concession of Colborne was not
:sold.

The Red Cross met -in Community
Hall on April lst with a good attend-
ance. Major Watson from Head
Quarters gave a very interesting ad-
dress. }Ie -spoke in favour of giving
Charters to smaller branches. He
explained how all our work now was
on the quota system and the benefit
to th wark emir ttee to know what
each branch could spend monthly. He
told how the Red Cross spent their
share of the campaign looney in
Field Kitchens, Boots, Rubbers . and
food for prisoners. Ile also showed
a sample of the boxes sent to pris-
oners, He finished by asking us all
to do otir part, Letters were read
from Red Cross Head Quartersack-
nowledging on March 24th, two car-
tons for refugees, fifteen. quilts, 1
chills dress, 1 boys shirt, eighty-five
pair of socks, fourteen sweaters, 6
scarves, 1 helmet, fifteen pair of
mitts and gloves, 1 seaboot stocking,
and 1 tack -ins.
The treasurers report was given
showing' a balance of $291,30 in
bank. Moved by Mrs. Moon seconded
by Mrs, Hall that we. hold our Reil
Cross meeting the first Thursday in
every month at 2.30 pan. The meet-
ing closed with the singing of God
Save the Ring.
Mr. and Mrs. D. D. Roberton of
Clifford spent Sunday with the for -
niers mother here.
Mrs. Meyers returned to her' home
in London :on Sunday last after a
weeks visit with Mr. and Mrs, W.
Lyon.
SpecialEaster Services • will be
held next Sunday morning at 11.30.
It will be a joint service with church
and Sunday School combined. A
special Easter Cantata, • entitled,
"Thomas and " the Risen Lord", will
be given by .the church choir, under
the direction of Rev, and Mrs. Menz-
ies. A splendid service is expected
