gave a report of the Presbyterial
streeting. Readings were glued b5►

Daer. The New Year's topic was
given by Mrs, Lawson. Mrs. Wesley
Bradnock sang a solo and Mrs, P.
.Ross gave a paper. Seventeen mem-
bers respotcled to the roll call. The
meeting was closed with prayer after
which lunch was served by Mrs.
Robison, Mrs, Dawson and Mrs, Rob-
ert Scott.
The Baptist Ladies' Aid met Thurs.
in the Church with Mrs. 0, A. How-
son in charge. The devotional per-
iod was taken by Mrs. John Raithby
and Mrs, James Raithby.. Mrs. Earl
Raithby sang -a solo. Mrs. Annie

on Tuesday afternoon, Jan, 7th, with

ed and sent to headquarters, Toronto,
last week consisting of 10 quilts, 69
pr, soaks, 1 pr, gloves, 1 girls dress,
those were from Burns, Kinburn and
Londesboro workers.

raising funds for our Institution was
also discussed and it was moved we
have social evening Feb. 14th, Val-
entine Day. A Birthday 3 layer
cake to be made for the occasion, and
and sold piece by piece the two top
layers to be sold to the highest bid-
der. A cone was appointed to arrange
programa for social evening, Mrs Men-
zies, Mrs. Armstrong, Mrs. R. Fair -
service, `Mrs: B. Brundson; Menu

Mrs, G. McVittie, Mrs. R. Townsend.
A rug made and donated by one of
the oldest Institute members, to help
raise funds for war work, tickets to
be sold by members, Tickets for rug
drawn night of social. This conclud-
ed busines past Mr. Whyte of Sea -
forth spoke on the British Empire
Training Plan including Sky Harbour
Ooderieh and Pt. Albert schools, He
also spoke on what .the Agricultural
farmer was facing. Many questions
were asked and answered by Mr.
Whyte, this address was very inta-
esting throughout, Mrs. Menzies
contributed a solo. The National
Anthem was sung., lunch was served
by the cone in charge, 42 present.
Mr. Frank Tamblyn retained from
Toronto on Saturday, having un-
dergone an operation in the Lock-
wood Clinic, 3 weeks ago. Although
rather weak he is on a fair way to
recovery.

The January meeting 01 the W.M.S.
was held in the church school room
on Thursday last with e, fair attend-
ance. In the absence of the president,
Mrs. 9'. Tainblyn conducted the meet-
ing. A Hymn was sung followed by
the daily prayer. Mrs, TambIyn
spoke briefly on the opening of the
New Year. See, read the minutes
and 1 card of thanks. The scripture
lesson was read by Mr. E. Wood with
the singing of a verso of Hymn 182
titernately. Group No. 5 had charge
of the program. The study book was
taken by Mrs. W. Hoggart, A story
by Mrs. L. McNeil "Resolutions for
the New Year:' The roll call was
answered by the paying of fees. The
word for next roll call is "Kind."
The installation of officers was
concluded by the pastor, Rev. Menzies,

About 150 friends and neighbors
gathered in the Foresters Hall on
Thursday evening, of last week to cel-
ebrate the marriage at Mr. anti Mrs,
Fred Riley who 'were •married necent-
ly, after lunch the bridal couple were
called to the platform where an ad-
dress was read by Mr. Walter Scott
and the young eouple were present-
ed with a handsome china cabinet and
a complete set of enamel wane and
other articles. Fred replied on behalf
of himself and Cora and all joined in
singing "For They Axe: Jolly Good
Fellows." Daneing wasthen con-
tinued until the small hours of the
morning.
We are very sorry to eeport, Mr.
Mat. Armstrong is in .Scott Memor-
ial Hospital very ill. We,hape for a
speedy recovery. '
Mr. Harvey Taylor is 'wearing a
broad .smile these days, his Wife pre-
sented him with a baby boy.

Perth -Huron Shorthorn Breeders
Club was -held in the hotel at Dublin
when important smatters' for 1941 act-
