This village was shocked and deeply grieved to hear of the sud- den death on Sunday of Mrs. Bert Keyes of Parkham. Mr. and Mrs. Keyes were residents hero until three years ago. Mr. Keyes was C.P.R. agent here. The following students are resuming :their studies at Goderich Collegiate, Mary and Zeta Munro, Vivian Straug- han, Lenore Plaetzer, Helen Marsh, Betty Asquith, Ruth Arthur, Mar garet Wightman, Elvin. Wightman, Donald Ross, Reid Sheppard and Bill Raithby. Misses Ida Craig and Amy Toll are planning to attend Strat- ford Normal. Mr. and Mrs. F. A. Macllveen and Eric. have returned to Bowmanville after a visit with Mr. and Mrs. Al- fred Asquith. Rev. Dr. James Nelson of Toronto and Mrs. Joe Nelson of Clinton visit- ed on Thursday with Mr. and Mrs. John Wilson. S. of Knox United Church nnet Tuesday afternoon with Mrs. Harry 'Wagner in charge. Mrs. Wagner read the scrltture and led in prayer. Mrs. George Bean gave the "Herald on China" and Mrs. Carl Wightman gave the herald o n "Cl (ristian Stewardship". Mrs . Thos. Jardin gave a well prepared and interesting topic on "The, Use of Our Possessions." Mrs. James Woods read a letter from Mrs. Lang- ley, "A Missionary in China." This pathetic lett"er depicted some of the horrible bombing raids taking place in China. Mrs. H. Mogridge invited the W.M.S. to her home• for the August meeting. It was decided to send a letter of sympathy to Mr. Bert Keyes. Mrs. Jas. Robertson closed the meeting with prayer. Mr. and. Mrs. A. J. Ferguson and Mi. and Mrs. Ralph Munro attended the funeral of Mrs. Bert Keyes at Morriston on Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs, Frank Raithby, Grant, John and Mrs. Amelia Mcill- wain visited friends at Wingham and Teeswater on Saturday. The Ladies Aid of the Baptist Church poet hs the church on Tues- day afternoon. The early part of the afternoon was spent in the yearly (-leaning. The president, Mrs. Chas. Howson, presided. Prayer was of- fered by Mrs. Annie Wolper. Final arrangements were made for the An- niversary. The meeting was closed by singing the National Anthem, af- ter which a pot lack supper was en- joyed.
