The W. M. S, held their regular
meeting Jan. 11th at 3 o'clock at the
hoarse of Mrs. Lane. The president,
Mrs. Ghowen presiding. The treasurer,
Mrs. Manning gave her report show-
ing that the Society hacl reached their
allocation for the year 1939. Annual
reports were read by the different
secretaries. Mrs. McKinley read the
scripture lesson encl. Mrs. Addison led
in. prayer. At the close of the meet-
ing the hostess served'a dainty lunch.

the local Odd Fellows Lodge being
hosts to their wives and members of
the Rebekah lodge and their husbands
There was a splendid turnout despite
the inclement weather and all heartily
enjoyed the games of progressive
"500" played in the earlier part of
the evening. Honours were won by
Mrs, E, C. Niokle and Mr, Wilmer
Wallis.
Following the' games a short pro-
gramme was presented and then
came the presentation of 25 -year
jewels to Mr. T. A. Sutter and Mr.
Fred Mutch. The presentations were
made by Mrs. Sutter and William
Mutch. Jewels were also to have
been prehented to Mr. Gordon Howe;
and Mr. H, Fitzsimons who were un-
able to be present.
The Rebekahs' contributed numbers
to the prna amme following t h e
presentation oeremonies and Mrs. G.
McLay gave readings in ;her usual
pleasing manner. Mayor K. G. Waters
spoke briefly and brought greetiings
on behalf of the council. . A short!
talk on the foundation of ;Odd Fel-I
lows work in conjunction' with the
aeniversary of -the founder - of the!

The WA. held their January meet-
ing at the home of ;Mrs, Ernest
Little on Thursday, the president,
Mrs. Bert Labb, presiding. After the
opening exercises, a letter, which had
been received from Saskatchewan,'
was read, acknowledging gifts and
clothing received. The scripture feed-
ing was given by Mrs. 11. McCartney,
after which Rev. Wilding led in pray-.
er. A New Year reading, "Begin-
nings", by Mrs, Ira Merrill was fol-
lowed by a duet by Mrs. Hayden and
her mother, Mrs. Potter. Miss Jose-
phine Muir gave a missionary read-
ing, which was followed by another"
duet, by request, "Bring my harp to
me again", by Mrs. Potter and Mrs.
Hayden. A contest was conducted by
Mrs. B. Lobb and the meeting was
closed with a• hymn and the Bene -1
diction. Lunch was served by Mrs.!

The S. S. No. 4 Goderieh township
branch"of the Red Cross•held a meet-
ing at the 'home of Mts.' Walter
Forbes., Members: were: enrolled, and
plans were made for future work to
be done. Yarn and 'sewing was dis-
tributed among the workers. Lunch
was served at the :close of the meet-
ing by theihostess,: Members present
