RED CROSS NOTES
The December meeting of the Clin-
ton Red Gross Society was held on
Monday 6th, with the presidnet, Mrs.
Oakes in the chair. The reports
en showed an increasing amount of
work being done, and the shipments
for one month were the largest on re-
cord,.
The 'Society wishes to acknow-
ledge and thank the Dramatic club
for a donation which has enabled
them to have all the sewing machines
fixed and to purchase another.

COUNCIL MEETING
The regular December meeting of
eouuleil was held in the Council
Chambers on Wednesday evening, Dec
8th, at 8 o'clock, due to the decease
of a relative of a member. With the
exception of •Councillor Agnew, all
members were present and the Mayor
as chairman.
Minutes of the last regular meeting
held Nov. 1st, •and those of a special
meeting•held Nov. 15th were read and
approved.
Copy of a resolution from the city
of Kitchener council, relative to the
Ontario Legion - Control Board, was
read, and ordered filed.
A letter from the clerk of Goderich
Township was read, expressingap.

$400 for 1943.
Notice of admission of two indigent
patients, one to Victoria Hospital, one
to Clinton Public Hospital were pre-
sented.
Two appeals for refund of hall rent
were read. Motion, that council refund
$10 of the $20 from the Happy Win
-
Workers Club for rent of hall for
dance held November 23rd. Carried
also $10 of the $20 received from the
Women's Institute dance held in the
hall, Dec. 2nd. to provide boxes for
the boys in uniform.
A petition was received from, for
residents on and }n the vicinity of
Huron street relatives to surface and
cellar drains, and it was moved that
routrcil pay $15 to the expense of cel-
lar drains on Huron street, due to
town water.
A. communication from the RCA'
station, Clinton, was read soliciting
the use of certain band instruments.
This matter is being dealt with by a
certain committee.
A communication from R. K..Rybka
of the Walter J .Armstrong, C. E.
staff was read. This had refernece to
the proposed New Sewage system.
By-law No. 7 for 1943, a by-law to
fix the time and place for holding no-
minations and elections for 1944, was
read the first, second and third time
and carried.

Pupils Hear Talk
on Labrador
On Monday of last week, the teach-
er and pupils of Summerhill school
had as their guests, Miss D, Bisback
and her pupils from S.S. No. 4, Gode-
rich Township. They were taken on an
imaginery tour of Labrador by LAC.

Milne and Stanley McLean, and St.
Andrew's ward, M. J. Ainsley.
Harold Vodden headed the council
poll in Blyth when a large number of
the electors turned out to cast their
ballots in what was generally con-
sidered an interesting campaign, one welcome. past
