An Honor Roll was dedicated to

Knox United. Church last Sunday ev-
ening. The Lobb Bros quartette of
Clinton favored with some numbers
and Betty Craig and Stewart Toll
gave a reading. Rev. Harold Snell
gave the message.
Me. and Mrs. 3. J. Wilson, Mrs., Chas
Straughan, Mrs. Wesley Bradnock,
Archie Robinson and Geo. Beadle, at-
tended the funeral of Joseph Wilson,
in Clinton on Thursday.
Mrs. Jeremiah Taylor is visiting her
daughter, Mrs. Lloyd Raithby and
Mr. Raithby, London.
The B:Y.P.U. held a Hallowe'en
'party in the church basement Friday
evening. The president Win. Raithby,
"was in charge. A sing song and con-
tests were enjoyed. The judges for the
costumes were George Raithby and
Norman Youngblut and the prize win-
ners were Ladies' Fancy Dress, Shir-
ley Robertson; Men's Fancy Dress,
`George Wight; Boys Comic Jon
',Seers; Ladies Comic Mrs., R. 3. Phil.
• 'lips; The best dressed child under 12
.years of age. John Raithby. Sand-
wiches and pumpkin tarts were ser-
-ved.
The overseas box committee, Mr's.
R. 3. Phillips and Miss Jospehine
Weir, packed twenty-four' Christmas
boxes for the local boys overseas.
Each box contained Christmas cake,
face cloth, cheese, soup, shoe polish
laces, noodle scup, 'chocolate drink,,
'tobacco, cigarette papers, peanuts
•and soybeans, 7 chocolate bars, tea
bags, gam, ehicklets, sardines, ad-
^dresses of troops overseas, 'one pair
of, socks,; wasted maple :leaves. 3r'11e
boxes were sent to Carman Shultz,
Harold Asquith, Elmer Shultz, Eldon
Yungblut, Kenneth Scott, Douglas Me -
Million, Stewart Anent, Clifford Car-
ter, Everett Yungblutt Keith Arthur,
Ned Thompson, Wilburt Lawlor, Ro-
bert Govier, Earl Mugford, Norman
Rodger, Edwin Lee, Kenneth. Camp„
bell, Morris McMillen, Albert Govier,
Geo. Straughan, Reid Sheppard, Ste-
wart'T'erguson and Ervin Wightman.
The Walkerburn Ladies' Club met
at the home of Mrs. Win. Archam-
bault. One Red Cross quilt was quilt-
ed.
It was decided to send a box of
candy to Donald end Jack Sprung,
Stanley Ball, Albert Govier and Ed-
win Lee. All of whom are serving ov-
erseas. Lunch was served, Mrs: Guy
Cunningham invited the club to her
home for the next meeting.
Mrs. John Raithby who has spent
'the summer months with her daugh-
ter, Mrs, Stanley Johnston of East
Wawanosh, has moved to the home
of her son Frank. Mrs. Raithby has
been confined to a wheel chair for
over a year after a fall at her home.
Mr. John E. Yungblut, who recently
retired after 33 years of service on -the
C.P,R, was honored Friday evening in
the Foresters Hall by his foreman.
Maitland Allen, fellow workers and
the ,community. At an appropriate
time Mr. Wm. Watson called Mr.
Yungblut to the platform and Clifford
Brown read an address and Andrew
Kirkconnell presented a beautiful
mantel chime clock from the C. P.R.
employees and a leather bill fold well
filled from the conmunity, The recipe
lent expressed his appreciation and
this was followed by singing. "For
:He's a Jolly Good Fellow," An appro-
priate gift book with the namesof
those taking part was also presented
to Mr. Yungblutt;,, Music for the dance
was supplied by Monk's Orchestra of
Goderich.
Mr.' and Mrs. Clifford Brown and
two children have -moved to Walton.
where Mr. Brown is employed with
the C.P.R.
Paul Raithby, younger son of Mr.
and Mrs. Lloyd Raithby is a patient in
Victoria Hospital, London.
Four rests of pictures were shown
the .1' bresters Hall Monday night
sponsored by Jas. Johnston and son er
Thomas Johnston and,sho'n under the
direction of. W. A. Brown, of London
and E C. Morran of Stratford in the:
interests of the B. A. Oil Company.
The congregation of Knox 'Pres-
byterian Church held a social evening
at the home of Mr. end Mrs. John
Houston on Monday evening. During
the evening Mrs. Houston who has re-
signed as organist of the church which
office she has held for a number of
years was presented with a beautiful
occasional chair and an end table. An
appropriate address was read by Miss
Josephine Weir and the presentation
made by Mrs,, Wesley Bradnock and
Wm, Wagner. ,Mr. Houston on behalf
of Mrs. Houston thanked the friends
for the lovely gifts. Lunch was served,

the W.A. was a great saeeess, This
day was fine and there was a splend-
id attendance. Hallowe'en colours
were used in the decorations and or
ange marigolds were on the tea tab
les.
A number of interesting quilts an
mats were hung on the walls, as we
as a beautiful Paisley Shawl, in per
fent condition, although over one
hundred years old, Another pretty
one had been brought from Scotland
and was the seine age. A small col-
lection of antiques was of interest.

in the church on Tuesday evening.
Prizes were given for eostumes, for
the fancy 'costume to Kenneth Far-
quhar, and the comic to Harold Lobb.
A good program was prepared by the
Young People and lunch was served.

ed over the week end at the home of
Mr. and Mrs. Ira Merrill,
