THE HOME PAPER
Huron County is Ready for the; Opening
of the 3rd Victory y Loaa
Quota—$1,900,000 _ Objec-
tive -To Oversubscribe
It In Ten Days
The latest word from the Victory
Loan Headquarters at Clinton is that
everything is in readiness' for the 3rd.
Vietory Loan opening on October 19.
The County quota has been set at
$1,900,000. which in turn has been.
broken down for eaeh Canvass-
ing District on"a per capita basis.
The Municipal Chairmen generally
agree that the quotas are equitable
and will be reached, if not exceeded.
The Canvassers have been selected
with great care. These are the men
who will make a thorough canvas of
their territory. Everyone will be con-
tacted. Every citizen will be expected
to purchase Victory Bonds to the lim-
it of his or her resources. Nothing
matters now but Victory. This' is a
total war. It calls for an all-out war
effort :for everybody. No alibis are
legitimate now.
A, complete regort on each citizen
will be made by the canvasser. These
reports will he checked by the Muni-
cipal Chairman, If deemed i wise, a call
back will be made. The reason for this
thoroughness is the urgentneed for a
complete sales -coverage so that all
available surplusl money in town, vil-
lage `andcountry will be secured to
purchase vital' supplies of war for our
gallant boys in khaki and blue:
Many a parent Yuts sent a son, many
a wife has sent,: a husband, many a
child has seen a father go overseas to
protect Canada. What are the rest of
us going to do? We are Canadians but
have we done anything to prove it?
It is the duty: .of every citizen to
support the 3rd Victory Loan, It isn't
possible to hide behind any smoke-
screen any longer. It every citizen co-
operatates fully in Huron County, the
quota of $1,900,000 will be oversub-
scribed in ten days following the op-
ening. of the Loan, on October 19.
Every dollar subseribed to the Third
Victory Loan. is a dollar invested in

For the benefit of our light- and
water consumers, we would like to
inform them of the law regarding
more than no householder using

Quoting waterworks rules end re-
gulations—"each separate tenant or
sub -tenant of a single dwelling or
building,or tenement house taking,
water, will be charged the s
checlule
rates for water as if each were a
separate consumer."
"That no person being an occupant
tenant or inmate of any house, build-
ing, or the place supplied with water
from the .waterworks system, shall
Iend, sell, or dispose of the water
thereof, or give away, or permit same
to be taken or carried away, or use
or apply it to the use or benefit, or
shall increase the supply of water be-
yond that agreed with the Corpora-
tion or wrongfully neglect or impro-
perly waste the water.".

SPRING AGAIN?
We wonder if 'the seasons have ;got-
ten. mixed and spring is here again,
due to the appearance of apple blos-
soms and raspberries.
Mr. W. H. Lobb brought into the
office a branch off a Blenheim Or -
Singe Pippin apple tree that has come
out in bud again this year. He got the
apple blossoms from, his lot on the
Bayfield road.
Mr. and Mrs A. T. Cooper are
enjoying fresh raspberries with
sugar and cream, the raspberries be-
ing picked from ,their own garden.
Mrs. Cooper tells es that the dishes
weren't large but the berries were.
