a ceremony at the manse of the Pres-
byterian ehurch, in Shakespeare, at
3.00 o'clock Thursday afternoon,
Blanche Myrtle Clement, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. William Clement,
Shakespeare, became the bride of
Lawrence Earl Banks of the Royal
Canadian, Naval . Volunteer Reserve,
Halifax N.S., son; of Mr. and Mrs. Ed-
ward Banks, Sr., 159 Whitlock street,
Stratford. Rev. J H. Moore offieiat-
ed. The bride looked, lovely in a
gown of turquoise blue jersey with
,white •accessories and wore a corsage
•of .roses. Miss Doris Clement, Kitch-'
,ener, was her sister's bridesmaid,
wearing a beige crepe suit with,ac-
.cessories in matching shade; and a
• corsage of roses. Betty Jean Clem-
lent,; sister of the bride, was flewwer-
;girl•, freaked in blue organdy. Mr,
Jack Banks, Galt, brother of the
'bridegroom, was best man. A. buffet
luncheon wast served at the •bride's
home, the table • being ;effectively
done in a pink and white color theme.

Later Mr. and Mrs. Banks left on a
honeymoon trip to Toronto and other
eastern cities.

floor -length veil caught with a cornet

white slippers was given in marriage

Red Shield
The regular meeting of the Red
Shield Women's Auxiliary was held
at the home of Mrs, Robert Carter
last Friday afternoon with twenty-
two members present. The articles
brought in were: 4 pair seeks; scarf;
'crib' quilt; sheet; slip; 2 pair bloom-
ers, One quilt was donated by the Wo-
men's Institute and some refugee
clothing by the Brucefield Red Cros4,
also refugee clothing from Mrs. C. V.
Cooke and quilt patches from Mrs.
Miller. 1VIrs, Garter showed some •of

George Carter, has sent from Eng-
land., Subscriptions amounted to

OBITUARY
HECTOR JUNOR
Word has been received; here of the
death in Hamilton on Tuesday, July
28th, sof hector Junor, formerly of
Clinton. Mrs. Junor was the former
Ruth Brownlee, and he was, well
known in Clinton and, surrounding'
districts as a stone mason fifty years
ago before going to Hamilton where
he has ever since resided.
Surviving are his wife and one
grandchild and two nieces, Mrs. H. R,
Sharp of British Columbia and Mrs.
Goldie Graham of Gadesich Township,
The funeral service is being' held
this •afternoon (Thursday) from his
late residence with interment in
Hamilton cemetery.

among a large circle of warm friends
and acquaintances. : Mrs. Margaret
Elizabeth Inglis, 73 Parkview Drive,

of the Stratford Chair Company,h
died in 1837, Mrs. Inglis was th
daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs.
George Trowhill, and was born in
Elora, in 1882. A few years later
the family moved to Clinton,'where
Mrs. Inglis spent her early girl -hood
and where she married in 1910. Be-
fore coming to Stratford in 1917, she
had lived in Handilton, Dundas and
Kincardine, Mrs. Inglis was a pro-
minent worker in Knox Presbyterian
Church, of which she'was a member.She was also president of the ladies'
aid at the time of her death a life
Member of the Women's Missionary
Society and, a member of the Gordon
Auxiliary of that church. Surviving
are two sons, AC. 2 Charles Inglis,
Royal Canadian Air Force, Manning
Pool, Toronto.; John Inglis, South
Porcupine; three daughters, Mrs.
Walter Sherwood (Christina); Mrs,
E. G. Thompson (Grace); Mrs, W. R.
McIntyre (Margaret), a 11 o f
Stratford; one brother, George
Tiowhill, Toronto; o n e sister,
Mrs. G. H, Morse, Memphis, Tenn.,
and three grandchildren. One broth-
er, Lance Corporal Charles De Forest
Throwhill, was killed in the First
Great War and another brother John
Stanley Tiowhill, died in Edmonton,Alta. Funeral services were held
from the family residence, 73 Park-
view Drive Tuesday afternoon at 2.30
o'clock ,followed by interment in
Avondale cemetery. Rev. C. S. Oke,
pastor of'Knox Presbyterian church,

eat WILLIAM THOMAS BRUNSDON
w e William' Thomas Bru csdon, a long
e time resident of Londesboro passed
away Monday evening, July 27th, af-
ter a lingering illness at his home in
Londesboro.
Mr, Brunsdon was born in' York
township ,near Toronto, in December
1860, but when a child his parents
moved to Londesboro, where his
father ,the late John Brunsdon was a
carriage maker and the son went in
partnership with: him, He was also
the Massey -Harris agent. He was a
member of Londesboro United clnneh,
also a member of The Canadian Or-
der of Forresters.
Surviving are his wife, the former

Mary Frances Mason; a daughter,
Mrs, R ,Vodden of Londesboro; three
sons; John Howard of Clinton; Ar-
thur Alvin of Wadena, Sask,; and
William Albert of Londesboro; and
eight grandchildren.
The funeral service was conducted
by Rev. Wm. Neil of Toronto and
Rev, A. E. Monies of Londesboro,
from the residence on Wednesday
afternoon. Interment was made in
Londesboro cemetery.
MRS. GEORGE HOLLAND
Anna Lobb, life-long resident o
Huron county and for ten years
resident of Clinton, widow of Georg
Holland, died suddenly Thursday, at
her home, Victoria street ,in her 76th
year. She was of English parentage,
a daughter of the late William Lab
and Emma Jary Lobb and was bor
in East Wawanosh June 19th, 1867
where she spent the early years o
her life. In December 1886 she mar.
ried George Holland and they farnde
in Goderich township and ether iocali
ties in Huron, In 1982 they retired
and took up residence in Clinton
where Mr, Holland died in the follow-
ing year. Mrs. Holland was a faith-
ful member of Wesley -Willis United
church and was interested in Chris-
ian and charitable work as her
strength afforded. Always a good
neighbor, she won and held many
friends by whom she will be mourned.There survive three sons, Norman J.,
Goderich township Clifford Roy,
Goderich; Bruce H. Clinton; two
daughters, Emmeline, wife of Ervin
G. Zinn, Lucknow, and, Viola wife of
Charles Nelson ,Clinton; also fifteen
grandchildren and three great grand-
children.- James. B. Lab)), well-knownretired resident' of Clinton i5 her only
surviving brother.
The funeral. was held on S•aturilay,
at 2.30 p.m. and the service was con-
ducted

Wesley -Willie United church, assisted

The pallbearers were six grand -sons:
Jahn and, Douglas Holland, ' Warren
Zinn, and, Harold and Glen Wise,'

DIES AT GODERICH
Taken suddenly ill while on a visit
to a sister at Bemniller, Mrs. William
G, Parkinson, 71 of Detroit ,died in
Alexander Hospital Goderich, last
Wednesday. She was born in Bay-
field, daughter of Zephariah and
Sarah Young Osmond, but had lived
in Detroit for the past 43 years. She
is survived by her husband, two
daughters, Mrs, Neil Jenkins, and
f Miss Ruth Parkinson; also one son
a Lincoln, all of Detroit, a brother
e William Osmond, lives in Bayfield
and a half brother, Charles Card, in
Winnipeg. There are also three sis-
ters surviving, Mrs. William Walters,
b of Bemniller; Mrs, Nellie Hayward,
n i of Hollywood, Cal., and Miss Emily
Osmond, of S'eaforth. The remains
f rested at Brophey's funeral par-

DIED FOR HIS COUNTRY
The following from the Star -Phoen-
ix, Saskatoon, Sask., refers to the
son of Dr. P. W, and Mrs, Winthrope,
Mrs. Winthrope was formerly, Miss
Lettie Smytih, a well-known resident
of Clinton, being in the law office of
the late William Bryd'ocie,
W. J. Winthrope, M.D., eurg'eon-
lieutenant on a British destroyer, the
Campbeiltown, who, reported missing•
after action, is now presumed dead,
according to word received by his
parents, Di•, P. W. Winthrope, and,
Mrs. Winthrope, 913 University
Drive, The father is a well-known
dental surgeon here. Surgeon; Lieut-
enant "Jock" William James Win-
threpe was born in Saskatoon 30
years - ago and attended Albert and:
Victoria schools and Nutana Cialleg
late. He was a science graduate of
Saskatchewan University and reeeiv-
ed his medical degree froan 'Toronto
University at theage of 24. He prac-
ticed for a short time in .Quebec and.

the British Navy.when he last his life.
