TO OWNERS OF DOGS IN CLINTON
Numerous .eomplaints have been brought to the attention of
the undersigned regarding the matter of dogs running at large,
romping through gardens and flowers, and becoming a public
nuisance.
I appeal to the citizens of Clinton to see that their dogs cease
to anolest their neighbors.
If this request is observed it may free the Council from passing
a By -Law prohibiting dogs running at large during the summer
months.

paper •on meditation. An invitation
to a meeting at the home of Mns.
Albert Campbell, on May 21, was ac-
cepted. Mrs. Jas. Roberton then con-
ducted the program and opened with
a prayer. Mrs, Fred Seers gave a
reading on "The Books of the Bible."
A duet was rendered by Miss Sadie
Carter and Mrs. Wm. Graig. A. com-
plete report of the Presbyterial held
recently in Clinton was given by Min,
W. H. Sheppard. The heralds Mist
Harry Wagner, home missions; Mrs.
Earl Wightman, Christian Steward-
s}.ip each reported. The meeting was
closed with prayer.

THE

wards gifts for our boys overesas.
A draniatie festival was presented
in the Foresters Hall Friday night by
the A,Y.P.A. of the district. Rev. P.
H. Streeter ,rector of St. Mark's
Anglican church was chairman and
in his opening remarks welcomed the
different societies, also the ones who
attended from the community.
The Goderich Society presented the
first one -act play entitled "Heart
Balm Inc." The other play "All Carrs
to the Reseue" was given by the
Clinton Young People, The judges
were Mrs. V. M. Bray, Blyth; Rev.
E. 0, Gallagher, Wingham and Chas.
E. Asquith, Auburn. They gave their
decision in favor of Clinton and the
cup was presented to the winning
players. Solos were rendered by Miss
Alice Rogerson, Blyth, Mrs. Gordon
Taylor, Auburn and Rev, E. 0. Galla-
gher of Wingham. Miss Jean Towne,
Wingham gave a piano instrumental.
Mrs. R. J. Phillips and Mrs. Gallagher
were accompanists. Lunch was ser-
ved to the players by the Blyth
Society.
The monthly meeting of the Wo -
mons Institute will be held in the
Foresters Hall on, Tuesday, May 19th
at 2.30. Mrs. Fred Oster of Blyth
will be the guest speaker. The roll
call, "Paying of Fees." Hostesses,
Mrs. J. J. Robertson, Mrs. Wm. Mc-

Mrs. E. Yeo, who has been visiting
in Toronto, Hamilton and other places
has returned home,
Mr. Reuben Gregg spent the
weekend at the home of his son in
Colborne Township. ,
The W.M.S. held their regular
meeting Tuesday afternoon at the
home of ,Mrs. C. Wilson with Mrs. W.
Yea in charge. The meeting was
opened by singing a hymn followed
by the scripture reading by Mrs. N.
Trewartha, Mrs. W. Yeo gave a read-
ing. Christian Stewardship was tak-
en by Mrs. Norman. Miss D. Finlay
reported on Temperance. Interesting
readings were given by McCullough
"In Quest of the Beautiful Life," and
Mrs. E. Potter "Rhythm. of Chinese
Village Life." Mn.sB. Trewartha
gave a splendid report of the Presby-
tery held at Wesley -Willis church,
Clinton. The meeting closed by sing-
ing hymn 168.
Mrs. E. Yeo presided for the W.A.
meeting.. A vote of appreciation was
given Mrs. Bond for her work in con-
nection with the play. Singing of
the National Anthem brought the
meeting to -a 'close. A social half
hour was enjoyed by the ladies and
refreshments were served by the
hostesses Mrs. C .Wilson and Mrs. E.
Yeo. • ; glia
The Holmesville Unit of the Red
Cross met at the home of Mrs'. C.
Wilson, on Wednesday afternoon, May
6, with 22 ladies present. Mrs, Lorne
Jervis presided for the devotional per-
iod which was opened by singing
"God Save the King", followed by the
Red Gross prayer repeated in unison.
Mrs. Bond gave the Seripture reading
Mat. 25 v 31-45. Readings were then
given on Red Cross. Pacts by Mrs.
F. Yeo. Mrs, L. Jervis and Mrs, J.
Dempsey. Mrs. E. Yea gave an ac-
count of boxes packed for prisoners

Trewartha made, an appeal on behalf
of the owning campaign. Collectors
were appointed as follows: Mrs. F.

Wilson gave a report of the previous•
meeting and Mrs, M. Elliott gave the
treasurers report. Mrs. Walters then
reported on packing of boxes sent to
our boys overseas. A quilt was'. quit-
ted during the afternoon and lunch
was servedi by Group 1 Proceeds
amounted to $2.50 in aid of the Red
Cross..,
