Huron Agriculture Body
Appoints New Officers
Secretary -treasurer . William • J.
Dale was re -appointed to office at the
directors' meeting of the Huron Fed-
eration of Agriculture held in the
Agricultural Board room here. Other
appointments to the executive were
R. Bolton, J. W. Joynt, W. R. Dougall
and W. Haacke, Speakers appointed
for radia broadcasts of farm topics
were W. J. Turnbull, J. McEwen, J,
W. Ja it, J. C. Shearer and W. L.
Whyte. Hugh Hill was appointed
delegate to the Canadian Federation
meeting in Ottawa January 29.
A resolution presented by the Hay
township unit to levy one-fifth of a
mill or one cent per acre on all farms
in Huron, to be collected by the muni-
'cipalities to finance the federation,
will be brought to the attention of
the county couneil by A. W. Morgue
and W. R. Dougall, The department
of agriculture of Ontario will be ask-
ed for a cost of production plan for
Huron county. W. L, Whyte was ap-
pointed tocontact the Ontario depart-
ment in this connection..
The federation pledged its •organ-
ization to support the International
Plowing Match 100 per cent. Farm
machine manufacturers will be ask-
ed to adopt extensive repair plans in
view of the fact that new machines'
will not be available to farmers and
food production will be affected.

Three of Family In Active
Service
Miss Madelon Hawkins, engaged in
social service work at the Mildmay
Institute, Toronto, has been accepted
in the Canadian Women's Auxiliary
Air Force and reports for duty the
seventh of March, as an equipment
assistant.
She is the daughter of Mr. and,
Mrs. W. T .Hawkins of town and is
the third member of that family to of-
fer their services to the Empire. Sgt.
Hugh Hawkins is an instructor in the
Canadian Anny Trades School at
Hamilton and Leading Aixcraftman
John Hawkins is taking a course to
the R.C•A.1!. at Crumlin.
Miss' Hawkins is the first woman
from Clinton to join the C.W.A.A,F.

Waste Paper —Such as envelopes,
writing paper, crumpled' papers of all
kinds, should be packed in old jute
bags or in large corrugated boxes
(De not include.Celephane, wax pap-
er, glassine, carbon papers or tar
papers as they have NO VALUE)
Mixed Rags -Should be sorted .into
the following classes: white woollens,
coloured woollens, ladies and mens
suitings, Goats, etc,, and cottons.
Clothing that is repairable will fetch a
better price if kept separate. To be
packed in boxes or old burlap bags
There is - also a demand for second
hand bags of all kinds. These should
be sorted as to size and should be
kept separate from your. mixed rags.
These materials have a lower value
than mixed rags and, if included,
would reduce the general prices ac-
cordingly.

The S.S. No. 11 Red Cross group
held their first meeting on Friday,
Jan. 23rd, and deckled to meet the
third Thursday of every month.
The February meeting of the Gode-
rich Township unit of the Federation
of Agriculture will be held, • in the

5th, at 8 p.m.
A short talk will be given on, the
set-up of the Federation, — person-
nel, finance, functions and achieve-
