Mr. and Mrs. Maitland Allen were
visitors at Flint for Christmas.
A suecessful dance was held last
night> in the Forester's Hall in aid of
'the OIC!1X Orphanage Fund. This is
a fund designed to alleviate the suf-
ferings of British children who have
become orphans through this war. The
door receipts were $42.
Word has been received here of the
death on Sunday, in. Hamilton General
Hospital of Rev. J .L. Small, Mr,
Small was' pastor of Knox Presby.

The annual Christmas concert of
S.S. No 4 under the direction of the
teacher, Mr. John Bates, and music
supervisor, Mrs. Bert Boyce, was held
in the school on Friday evening. The
school was well filled and an excellent
program was presented. Mr. Irvine
I Tebbutt acted as chairman. Songs,
recitations, and playlettes were given
Vey the pupils, and a number of the
young people of the section presented
a pray entitled `;Henry's Mail-order
Wife.". After the program and ad-
dress was read and a presentation
from the section was made to Mr.
'Bates, after which they sang "For
He's a jolly good fellow." Mr. Bates
very ably responded ,and thanked all'
for the gifts And their fine co-opera-
tion during the time he spent in S.S.
,N. 4. Santa then appeared to lis-
tribute presents from the tree. Mr.
•Bates has proven a very capable
teacher, and will become principal of
Bayfield school at the beginning of
the New Year.

Guelph General Hospital spent Christ -

fifth wedding anniversary.

program a shortwne act play, "Hen -
27's Mail Order Wife" was given by
Miss Higgins, Mr. and Mrs. Elgin'
Nott, John Bell, Mervin Nott and Bert
Irwin. At the conclusion of the play,
Mr. Theodore Dale made a few•well
chosen remarks. Miss Higgins, ex-
pressed her appreciation to all who
helper; snake -the concert saeh a sue -
cess.
The draw for the quilt which was
donated by Mrs. T. Smith, was made
by: Donna Fowler, and the winner was
Mrs. Miller Adams. After Santa
Olen distributed the gifts from . the
gaily decorated Christmas Tree, "God
Save the King was sung," while Mrs.
B. Irwin, the pianist of the evening
Presided at the piano.

HOLMESVILLE
The Sunday and Public School held
their annual Christmas entertainment
in the basement of the church last
Thursday evening. A large crowd
attended. There were recitations,
singing and a pantomime. The Young
People put on a play entitled "The
Christmasing of Jasper. Then Santa
Claus arrived and delivered the many
gaits :from the prettily:_.:decorated
Christians tree. At` the close of the
program everyone joined in singing
the National Anthem.

Five Mentioned For Huron
Honor i'•
With all elections in Huron munici
polities over with the exception
Clinton, speculation as to .who will be
the next warden of Huron county, is
in order. This year the choice will be
decided' by the Conservative members
of the county council, for it is a time-
honored rule that the warden is nam-
ed in a caucus of the members of one
of the two old-line political parties;
and then duly nominated and elected
in open council. The year 1942 is the
Conservatives' turn.
Five members are being spoken of
as possible aspirants, for the honor.
They are: Roland Grain, reeve of
