Annual Christmas Concert Th Clinton Knitting Company held their Christmas tree, entertainment. and dance in the Legion Hall last Tuesday night. Those present includ- ed the management, office staff, mill operator and their families and a number of invited guests aggregating upward of 200 persons. The president of the company, Colonel H. The final number on the program was the cue for the entrance of Santa Claus, when gifts heaped around the base of the tree were distributed. After lunch had been served the floor was cleared! for dancing, in which the greater number remained to take part. MCMURRAY, MAYOR OF THE TOWN OF CLINTON Celebrate 55th Wedding 1 Anniversary A very pleasant event was celebra- ted on Sunday, Dee. 28th, when Mr. and Mrs. G. H. Holland of Clinton celebrated their 55th wedding anni- versary at the home of their daugh- ter, Mrs. W. M. Nediger. During the afternoon Mr. and Mrs. Holland were the recipient of flowers and congratulations from the immed- iate family and friends who called to extend their good wishes. At 4.80 a dainty lunch was served by the hos- tess assisted by the grandchildren of the happy couple. • Mr. C. H. Holland was married to Clara Jervis on Dec. 28th, 1886 at Holmesville by Rev. Fisher. They spent their first married years at Orwell and Springfield, latter coming to Clinton. Then 21 years ago they removed to Seaforth until in June 1940 they came to make their home with their daughter in Clinton. New Appointments Made The Chapter of the Deanery of Huron met Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 30th, at the rectory of Dr. P. P. D. Hurford in Seaforth. As Dr. Hur- ford's term of effice,of gtimal Dean •was expiring in a few days a vote •was taken to appoint his successor. Rev. E. 0. Gallagher, rector at Wing - ham, was chosen' and his name will be sent on to the Bishop for confir- mation and appointment. Rev. Gall- agher resigned his office of secretary - treasurer and Rev. G. W. Moore of Clinton, was appointed his successor. Mrs. Hurford and daughter, Jean, served a tasty and dainty lunch.
