It is goad for Scoutarto`remind them-
selves that they belong to an organize=
tion which is world wide—a great In-
ternational Brotherhood; There, `are
two ;million Scouts and each 1s a
brother to eve,,; other Scout.; Even In
some of the: isolated isles of the seas'
Scouts will be found; Yellows with the
same: games, fun, and ideals as Cana-
dian Scouts. These thought$ : were
conveyed .to ' the Princeton' Troop,
which in some ways, like many others'
in Ontario, is'somewbat Isolated, by a
recent visitor from Headquarters. The
boys of this Troop will in future do as
Sir Robert Baden-Powell says every
Scout should--chuckehis chin well up,
look .the world in the .face, and be
proud of the organization to which he
belongs.
New Leaders.
We are always looking around for
new Capable men es boy leaders,__so
that it was areal pleasure to interview
a prospective Assistant Scoutmaster in
Ingersoll whom it is hoped' will throw
himself heart and soul In the Troop
work there, This Troop is doing nice-
ly under the leadership of Scoutmaster
McMillan. o
FlreRrevention.
If I remember rightly three Scouts
in Woodstock have been recommended
for medals, having successfully passed
the very strict',exainination in fire pre-
vention method arranged by the Pro-
vincial 1'lre1Mershall. The Troop is'
also very busy 'layingits plane for the
attest ,camp yet.
Reforestation.
One of the Troops in SL Thomas hit
upon 'quite .a new .scheme intree
planting. They obtained from the
bush, numerous saplings: and replant
ed then on- vacant places in.the town.
The owners gladly recompensed; the
boys Who by this method raised over
$30. The three Troops in St. Thomas
are ,doing excellent Work, and two
more will sooii be organized. The re-
cently. formed, Local Association is
calculated" to help the Work very ma-
toi"ia11y. ,
Cubblng.
Cub work in Merlin and Aylmer is
getting along splendidly. The Leaders
sure leave a great time answering their
many questions, and in providing
gaines as an outlet for the unbounded
energy possessed. One little fellow
nearly struck the ceiling when giving
his jump in the :"Grand, Bowl." If he
had succeeded there would -Undoubted-
ly have been another howl,
Finance.
The Troop in Ridgetown seems to be
an adept one in seizing every 'oppor•

require in another way. It ie proposed
to Put. on a •Scoutgram Oampaign
which Is hoped will give good .puiilleity
to Scouting as well, as provide 'funds
without the boys having to employ the
distasteful art of begging. In fact
Scouts erre not allowed to beg.
A, New Troop.
The first Leamington Troop has now
been. chartered • and a recent visitor
was delighted to find every boy in uni-
Perin, ' while the whole group' showed
• evidence of having received good early
training. Assistant Scoutmaster Craig
deserves much praise and it 12 'hoped
that plenty of real help will be afforded
him in the work. We are hoping that
No 2 Troop will not delay its appear-
ance too long.
Baseball,-
Baseball has its attractions foe the
boy, we all know, therefore it le very'
encouraging to be able to register at
a Troop meeting practically every
Scout right on time lnspite of 'a fas-
einating game being played near by.
This happened, at Dutton. It's just an-
other evidence that where Scouting is
really done notating is more attractive
than it, Tlie Scoutmaster and the
boys of Dutton have every reason to
be proud of the Troop and the writer
agent a very happy evening with them.
They were a little over confident in
•Kelly's game, which quickly sorted
them out, but throughout they con.
dueled themselves as real good Scouts
—fellows who are striving to live up to
the Scout Law, .

A 'Cart -Wheel Clue:,
Just over one hundred years ago Dr.
Peter Mack i ogat,;,who wee 'born.
London in 1779, read a paper before
the Royal Society which was destined
to lead to the invention of the eine-
matograph:
One day in the summerof 1824 he
was looking out of his window at a.
baker's Dart delivering bread at houses
opposite, Passing his eye up and
down the Siete of:aVenetian blind he
received the Impression of a stationary
wheel, which he saw was revolving
whet .he kept his eyes still- He die•
covered the cause and' effect, and ulti•
mately gave Isis findings in his paper
to the Royal Society. •
The publieation of bis paper started
a new train of thought among the lead-
ing scientists of the day; and that his
writings en :the sttb feet were widely
read Is- proved by the acknowledg-
monis of DT. Parades, Dr, Plateau, of
Ghent, and Wr. Stafnpfner, of 'Vienna,
Who agree that but for his clearly
given data and Mehl explanation of the
phenomena the invention of the

of a similar instrument; the strobo-
