FRED 'ASKS JOHN »A QUESTION
The)hditress Clinton News -Record,
Dear Madame,—Recently reading a
copy,.. of The Manehester Guardian"
I came across a» heavily -censored art-
icle -purporting to be 'copied from the
News -Record of the 18th inst. It was
signed by a• "John Ransford." I have
communicated with quite a number
of, Old Boys but none seem to have
any recollection of a :Clintonian> bear-
nig that nomenclature. We have con-
cluded that either the signature is p
'misprint or else the, particularindi-
vidual was domiciled in the Gode•ieh
Castle or the County Residence south
of, Clinton during the' days, the gold-
en age when we were residents.
-In the course of the article this
Mr. Ransford remarks, "Now 'women
boldly Walk into barber shops and sit
down "like' a man."
Ii 'yon can get in touch with this
writer will you please ask him to ex-
plain how women used to sit down in
the good old days of '05. We are
well aware that the hinges of anat-
omy have been more, or less revealed`
in recent years • but were not aware
that the nature of the sitting ;hinges,
were over radically, different from
those of man.
Yours truly,
-FRED SLOMAN.
