KEEP OFF WALKS,
A ratepayer tomplains to The
News -Record. that the practise of rid-
ing bicyeles on the sidewalks
is v er y• prevalent on Huron
'street, whicli has a good, macad-
amized road. This practise, which is
forbidden by bylew, is a dangerous
one and on one or Iwo occasions has
come near cansing accident. The
sidewalks are for 'pedestrians, and
they ought to. be left free of ariY
wheeled conveyance other Oat, a
hand-peo,eelled ba,by'S buggy., Thera
are the wide roadtvays for wheeled
vehieles and they ought to keep off
the walks. A bicycle rider will some-
times nide up behind a Pedestrian and
just -when he is about to pass will -
ring his hell. This, should the per-
son,be a little hard of hearing or
soineWhat nervous, is enough to ster-
ile him on hen and that start may
make thenr jump night in front -of thd
wheel.:' Anyone anig•ht have an &mei-
dent ,with a wheel on the sidewalks.
