Exeter: The barns, containing -a
number- of horses, cattle, pigs and
rnueh -grain, feed, implements, etc.,
belonging to George', Jeffrey on the
Thames road east of here, were de-
stroyed by fire on the evening of Sat-

spark from the exhaust of a gasoline
engine with which Mr. Jeffrey was
-operating the chopper was the cause'
ofthe fire. 'He was upstairs when he
noticed the blaze in a- straw stack
and it was with difficulty that he es-
caped. Ile succeeded in getting one
team out but another was burned.
The loss will be heavy as it ;was only
partly covered by insurance.
