There was a fair attendance at tlie'
Golf Club dance on Friday evening.
Varna Orchestra provided good music.
The Young People's: Society met on
Friday evening last. In a very in-
teresting debate the ,subject of which
was, "Resolved :that men spend more
time and money on -their own plea-
euro than, women," : the affirmative
was taken. by Misses Jean McKenzie

and Margaret Campbell, thenegative
by Dou. 1VlcKenzie and Jack,; Watson.
The negative won by two points. The
judges were Miss Petty, Mrs. S.
Keyes and Mr. P. Bigelow. 'After the
debate games were played and then
lunch was served. The . society will
meet again a week from Friday, when
the regular topics will be continued.
On. Friday evening the congrega-
tion of Trinity church is holding a ,
social for the Sunday school children
in the Orauge Hall.
The fleet meeting of the new coun-
cil was held at the town hall Mon-
day morning, when the following took
office: Reeve; Henry Weston; coun-
cillors, Samuel Houston, Lewis Thom-
son, Wm, J. Weston. Nomination is
to be held Monday evening, Jan. 19th,
to appoint one councillor and one
school trustee. • The acting clerk
was ordered to advertise for applies

The annual meeting of St, And-
rew's congregation was held oi4
Thursday evening of last week in the
basement of the church,'" with a fair
attendance: The chair was taken by
Mr. Fraser, in the absence of Mr.
Macfarlane, who was ill. Represent-
ative of all the organizations hielle
congregation were present, and gave
them repel es, which foe the most
part, were very encouraging, espec-
ially the Ladies' Aid Society, which
had increased its;inoonee by $120.00,
and the Mission Band, which had in-
creased by nearly $30. The givings
of the Women's; Missionary Society
were else larger, while the finances
of the other 'organizations were also
in fair shape, a total of about $2,450
being" raised. The officers were all
re-elected,,

home of 'Nirs. Campbell, with- eleven
Members present,also a visitor. The
Society's book for study in 1925 will
he. the"Planting of the Faith,",. and
the first chapter was read by Nlrs.

Margaret McKellar, one of thb min
sionaries'of the church in India, and.
is a very convincing end 'statesman-
like description of affairs' political,
social ante religious in that country.
As Dr. McKellar spout her: girlhood
in Port Elgin, Ont., her camels of
especial interest to'Westorn Ontario
people. The members were pleased.
to hear from the treasurer that the
Society's allotnient for the year; of
$185 had been reached and passed by
112; .the total amount' forwarded to
the Presbyterial tcasurer•being $197.
