ABOUT WIRING ;
The iurgnestioned' value of electricity in rho hom II means. that
the plans for et ery new house should call folelectric witiug that will
curry all electric appliRnoes, with a sufficient molter of outlets{ or
plugs to make eonvenien connections in all parts of the buildtn
However, the changing of wiring to permit the carrying of all
elertrlc appliances is a'simple matter; not complicated one, as many
people thank.
A previously installed home -lighting system and the 'ivitdng for
it does not regecite,ehanging In any way.
The only change of consequence occurs between the place where
the power company's wires are attached (usually at some point on the
louse outside near the roof) and the tneter in the basement, Between
these two; points there should be a 8 -wire system of sufficient capac-'`
ity to amply provide forrangeand any additional appliance that
may be installed later, and with appropriate cut-outs, or switches, and
correct fuses. This done by a competent oleetiician and you are pre-
pared to carr,n1
ail housoho]d appliances in any ordinary house, Coit
nesting this new wiring to your present fighting system is a matter
of ztzitzfites onlyr, as is the Matter of connecting the range ready for,
aoolcinLy.
You ao not have to pay for the new service wires running front
Abe poles in the street to your house, The power company usually
Etee ishos and instails,thent. - -
The only thing to make wore of before having the wiring changed
is this: --Is :range orother extra service available at the moinent on
your. street? As1c the power service company.:, In any event, wire
heavy enough, the difference itt cost' is negligible. Electric range dis;
satisfaction is almost unheard of, but in the very few cases where it
has existed the trouble is invariably traced to too light wiring.
There is no particular inconvenience caused by changing over wiring
to permit the earryiug of electrical appliances.
