GANANOQUE HONORS VETERAN
TEACHER
Hundreds of former pupils from all
parts• of, Canada ' and the United
States, present day mile and sever-
al thousand spectators, did honor to
J. 'C. - Linklater today at what is
known as-Linklater Day in Ganan-
oque's Old Houle Week program, who
for 36 years has 'been .principal, of the
Gananoque Public school,
Hon. Chas. McCrea, Ontario Min-
ister of Mines, represented the Oh-
tario Department of Education, bring-
ing -greetings from Premier Ferguson.
Addresses were also delivered by W.
B. Carroll, I.C., who seconded the
vote for Mr. Liiiklater's appointment
36 years ago.—The Globe,
Mr, Linklater was formerly on the
teaching staff of .Clihton public school,
and is a native of East Wawanoah.

Mr. T. H. Race one of the most
highly esteemed residents of Mitchell
passed away at his home Tueaday
morning after a brief illness.
Mr. 'Race established the Mitchell
Recorder forty-nine years ago. He
sold that in 1905. ' In 1904 he was
appointed Canadian Exhibition Com-
missioner and had charge of Canada's
exhibits at several World's"Fairs.
For' the last few years he has acted
as the travelling secretary for.: the
Muskoka Sanitarium. lie has made
a name for himself as a writer for

,Hon. T. B. Carvell, chairman of'
the boatel of railway eennnissioners
of Canadawas 'suddenly stricken at
his home in Woodstock on Saturday.
He was an outstanding' figure in
public life. Ho has been in the Hous)
of ,Cointnons for -fifteen years, first as
a supporter of .the Laurier Govern -
Ment, then as 'a Member of the •ap-
pesition'under Laurier .and later •,vs
minister :of publicworks' in the Union
Government. Since 1919 he has
held the position of chief, of the rail-
way board.
The funeral : took place from his
late home in Woodstock on Tuesday.:
