The regular meeting df the Wo-
men's Institute Was held. in 'the, hall
on Thursday, January ard. The meet-
ing was opened by singing -the open-
ing, ode followed by short prayer by
Miss L. Lyon. The minutes of tho
last meeting were read and adopted..
Then -the program, `consisting of
speeches, readings, solos and instru-
mental selections, Seas" given by the
young girls 'of the society. Follow-
ing this was the remainder of the
report). given' by Mrs, J. Manning.
Everyone present enjoyed and was
benefited by the report Mrs, Man-
ning and Mrs. Bell brought back from
the London District Convention. The
National 'Anthem brought the 2busi-
.nese meeting to a closo, after which
all repaired to the basement where
sifpper was served by the Young girls.
The Women's Institute Intend hold-
ing a social evening on Tuesday'. ev-
ening Janaury 29th, for the mem-
bers of the Institute' and their hus-
bands and families. There will he.
all kinds of games, etc., followed by
lunch served in the •basement, All
are invited to. tome.and enjoy a good
evening and make things go pleasant.

A week of prayer is being observed
in the village this week with union
meetings. Tuesday and Wednesday
evenings the services in the Presby-
Aian church were addressed by Rev.

dist ehureh on Thursday and Friday
evenings.
,A quiet but pretty wedding took
place at the manse on Wednesday af-
ternoon, when !Miss -fanny Lee,-
daughter of Mrs. Wm. Lee of Lon-
desboro, became the bride of Mr.
Bert Beacons of Clinton, the Rev.
James Abery officiating. The 'bride
looked very pretty in a black velvet.
