In the death of Mr, John Walker
which occurred, at his home in Bruce -
field on Christmas Day, this township
has lost one of its oldest, most widely
known and greatly respected resi-
dents. Mr. Walker had been in
failing health for some time but was
able tobe up and around until, a
month ago, since when he gradually
same until the ,end came. The de-
ceased was the only son of the late
George Walker and was the last
surviving -member of 'his family. his
three sisters having predeceased him.
Ile was born on. the. Walker home-
stead on the Mill road seventy-three
years ago, on the farm now occupied
by ,Mr. 'George' McCartney, ,were he
had lived ell his life until about HUT
-
teen year's ago, when he moved to
Brucefield. He was married to Miss
Annie McKay of Tuekersuiith . fifty
years ago next May. He leaves to
mourn their loss, his wife and four
children, viz,: Georbe of Hensall;
(Mary) Mrs. Hugh McDougall of Ti-
verton; Miss Annie and Hugh at
hone. Ile belonged to the. Forres
tors and also the Sons of Scotland.
The funeral was held from the Pres-
byterian church, Brucefield, on Thurs-
day afternoon and -was very largely
attended. Many from a distance
came -to nay a last tribute of respect
to the memory of one who had spent
so many years amongst then, In-
terment was made' in Baird's cenle•
tery, The wife .and family have the
sincere sympathy - of their . many
friends,

New Year's. in Hensall.
Mrs, Rohner is the guest: of her
sister, Mrs, Smith of Exeter.
