'The regular monthly meeting of
the Women's Missionary Society was
held on Wednesday in the "township
hall. Carlow. with a fine attendance.
The meeting commenced with de-
votional exercises : after which Mrs.
John Walter read:. a; letter from Mrs.
Grierson. of Korea; which was very
interesting, to all present. The elec-
tion resulted ' in ' all officials be-
ing re-elected for the coning year.

were thirty days on the voyage. Upon
reaching Canada they lived with an

then moved to Hallett township in an
ex -sleigh, where the father, Richard
Brigham, settled on lot 15, con. 12,
where his grandson, Albert, now re-
sides. -
Mr: Brigham was twice ' married.
First, to Miss Elizabeth Foster in
1867, when they made' their earthly
home on his tine farm lot 15, con. 14,
which they cleared and so well im-
proved -by their earnest and indefat-
igable exertion. From this union Frere
born one son and one daughter.'
His second marriage 'was to .Mars.
Ann Miller, whose daughter, Mary,
(Mrs. Jas. Richmond), became' a
member of the family. To this mar-
riage were born three' sons, one .of-'
whom died in -infancy, and one daugh-
ter.
Mr. Brigham -was a man of much
more than, ordinary intelligence and.
aliility, and, took a great interest in
education and in fact every thing
pertaining to the betterment of the
community .in which lie lived:- For
over thirty years he was sec -treas-
urer of S. S. No. 7, Huliett,' and was
for seven years a member of the
township amincil; during four years
of which term 'he was Reeve, being
reelected,by acclamation . on each
successive occasion: Do-'ing his term
of office the County Home was es-
tablished, and he always felt highly
honorea in having his name inscribed

Being a Liberal be was a constant
reader of Globe" for some seven-
ty years,. ..
Ha was a member of. St. Andrew's
church, Blyth, and an elder for forty
years.
Besides his elder brother; William,
of Londesborough. and his sister. Mrs
Charles Harvey of Exeter, he leaves
behind to mourn the loss of an ever
kind and indulgent father; three
daughters and three sons: Mrs. Wil-
liam 1Vfaeon of Mullett, Mrs. James
Richmond of Morris Mrs. Alfred
Wletherall of Excel. Alta., .Foster of
i{ameaok. Sisk., Albert on the grand-
father's homestead and the youngest
son. James, on his own homestead.
The funeral service will,be held at
his late residence en Friday, Dec.
211rd at 2:30 pain .,The service beinp-
conducted by the Rev. Barnby of
Blyth'and Rev. Dr. Larkin of Sea-
forth.- Interment will be -made at the
Union cemetery; Blyth,
Mrs., C. Pilgrim had the misfortune
to fall and break her leg one day last
week but we are ples'sed to report- at
time of writing she is doing as well
as can be expected.
Mr. R. Austin of Flint, Mich., spent
a few days'at his home here. •

Peoples' Society of the United church
was held last Friday evening and the

The death occurred eat the home of
her daughter in Flint, Mich., on Fri-
day last of Annie Mnrr•ay, widow of
the late Andrew Rid, an old resident
of Stnnley township.

though-she rallied from that some
'what, when another seizure came she
didnot recover. She bad lived in
Stanley all her life, being a daughter
of the late Angus Murray. 0£ late
years she had been spending her win-
ters in Flint and just recently she
went over to Flint to stay with her
daughters and was with Mrs. Green-
bury when she took ill. She is sur-
vived by a family of four daughters
arid four sons: Mrs. Fred Greenbury,
Mrs. W. Cable, Mrs. Paid Jahii arida
John Reid, Flint; Mrs. T. Robinson,
Stanley, William and George Reid,
Varna, and James Reid, Clinton, Her
blithe/id died in '1913. A brother,
Angus Murray of Chisethurst and
three sisters, Mri. Geo. Saunders,
Toronto; Mrs. W.Palmer, Hamilton,
and Mrs. (Dr.) .. Roderick Murray,;
Chicago, rx1$o survive:
The remains were ' brought house
for interment, the funeral taking
place from the home" of her eldest
son, Mr. 1Villiam Reid, on Monday af-
ternoon, where a short service was
held, followed by a service in Varna
United church. The Rev, Mr, Penrose
conducted the services and the pall-
bearers were: Messrs. Amos Keys,
Wes. nommen, V. Diehl, R. Greer,' II.
Lrratt and R. Stephenson.
All the family were present for
the funeral, the son and daughters
accompanying the remains from Flint,
and her sister and a mete, Mrs.
Palmer and Miss Wir6xie Palliser of
Hamilton, were also amongst those
from-a.distance who "attended. Old
friends ' and neighbors and friends
from. all the surrounding community
also attended the last sad rites. Many
expressed.,;,:their affection. for the
-dead and their sympathy with the
living by senrliixg' flowers, which were
in abundance.. Interment was made
in? Bayfield cemetery.

concert in Dungannon on Friday

meeting at the parsonage, Nile, on
Tuesday of this week, at Mrs, Lun-
dy's, with a splendid attendance
