Mr. and M'rs, Alex, Young, of Loyal
on Monday.
Congratulations are extended to
Mr. and Mrs. Gordon McPhee on the
birth of a son on Dec. aid, and to
Mr. and Sirs. William Westlake on
the arrival of a son also on Dec. 2nd.
Mr. aid Mrs. John. Arthur and
family are moving to their ries;* home
in Wawanosh, which was purchased
from 1V1rs. W. Oliver, the farm until
recently rented by Mr. Osmand Wal-
ters.
A large number of young people
gathered at a party held at Osmand
Waiter's, Wawanosh, last Friday
night.
On Monday evening', Dec. 5tb, at
Knox church manse, Goderich; Mr.
George Bean and Miss Mable West-
lake were punted in marriage by Rev.
R. C. McDermid,''-After the ceremony
the bridal party 'journeyed to the
bride's home, Goderich township, and
Were met by friends and relatives
and showers of confetti. After din-
ner was served, the evening was spent
in games and dancing., which con-
tinued till a latehour. Mr. and Mrs,
Bean will reside in Saltford, at Riv-
erview residence.
At the county council meeting last
week Mr. Gordon Young was appoint-
ed to succeed ,Mr. W911iatii Lane as
County treasurer. Mr. Young is well
known throughout Huron and is an
ex -reeve aifd councillor of Colborne,
His salary will be $1,500 per -year.
His friends congratulate him on se-
curing this poeitiop.
Miss Jean Mbi'ris spent Sunday
with per parents, Mr. and 'Mrs: Herb
Morris.
The quarterly official board mit at
Benmiller church on Monday, Dee.
12th.
The Missionary .nieetinv; will be
held at the township hall on Dec.
14th.' This will be the last meeting
for the short year in missionary, work.
• Miss Agues Flick has returned
home after a visit with friends 'at
Kitchener aiitl Brantford. '
The lest meeting of the township
council was held on Wednesday of
this week.
Miss Winnie Marsh is visiting Miss
Amelia McElwain for a few days.
Miss Mary Houston spent Sunday
with Miss Eunice Young.
Mrs. Melvin Tyndall and daughter,
Kathleen, spent the week -end with
Mrs. Tyndall's father, Mr. Charles
McCurdy of Goderich.

The members of the'B. 0. 18. of the
township of Stanley met in the town-
ship hall on Monday, Dec. 5th, at one
o'clock. A splendid report from, Dr.
Shaw. M.O.CI., was read eonc'erning
the different schools of the township
and also of the different contagious
diseases which were but few in num-
ber throughout the year` -though one
or two of each of the diseases were
reported. though mostly of a mild
form. Dr. Shaw also commended
very highly the splendid attitude of .
most of the parents in having their
Children vaccinated.

a few. days with his relatives near

closing meeting for the year on.
Thursday, December 1st, with the
president, Mrs, Itugh Aikenhead, oc-
cupying the choir. Mrs, Aikenhead
took the scripture reading from Prov.
31, and Mrs, (Rev,) W. A. Brenner
led in prayer. [toil call was answered
with a, verse dealing with ""Virtuous:
Women." Mrs. W. Elliott gave ry
splendid paper on the second chapter
of the study book, "New Paths for
Old Purposes." On December 8th a
