Chrtstiza's . a `.Peace` on Earth'' a thought sent 'through, mortal flesh, gave to man" a vision
wh lch has survived- through more than nineteen hundred years of strife , ever ad vancrn until
to -day, nations know and have turned to a discussion- of outlawtaag-war+. It was not .nor is
not a false promise from.creative power. Instead only a rule of life, so 'supple that man
has found it d tf f tail' to believe and follow its tenets. I t is this : "A Little Child ..Shall
Lead . With that understanding, true humility and simple faith, the wonders of "Peace
on Earth" unfold, Not by might, riot by power; but by the Spirit
of God -born in the life of man. HAIL CHRISTMAS.

GOING 'HOME FOR CHRISTMAS
Up and down the shop lit streets
A parcel -laden throng
Exchange their "Merry Christmases"
'And gaily pass along;
-Oh, music's in .each cheery voice,
Their laughter's clear and sweet;
The tinkling hum of tambourines
Sounds in their maxching feet; •
Cathedral chimes are pealing forth
Glad welcome, for. a King;
Bat none of these can match the tune
My heart is carolling,
It's "Going home for Christmas,"
In very simple strains
That somehow hold a magic
Loa to intricate refrains,
It's "Going home for Christmas,"
Through the starlight, and the
snow,
To find a Christmas weleome
In a place l: used to know.
The train goes whizzing through the
night, •
Yet all too slow for me;
For all along the creeping miles
I'm thinking eagerly
01 a little house of welcome
Where Christmas fires glow,
Where Christmas candles shine afar
A wanderer's way to show,
Where kindness lights each pleasant
face, ..
Where Christmas feasts are spread;
And with my thoughts the same old
song
' 'Goes ringing through my head.
It's .:`Going hone for Christmas,"
The haunting old refrain;
Home where a thousand memories
Refresh the heart£ again,
It's "Going home -fors" Christmas"
O. angel choirs that sing!
Hear this, my earthly carol,
For Christmas homecoming)

HURON OLD BOYS' ASSOCIATION
OF TORONTO
The annual euchre. and bridge en-
tertaimnent of the Huron Old Boys'.
Association of Toronto was held in
Hygeia Hall, Elm St., on Monday ev-
ening, Dec. ii, when Huronitos turned
out in surprisingly large numbers,
the attendance being much larger
than at any previous function of the
same kind.
Everybody -was in good Christmas
humor, and consequently, the pro-
gram went along with a rush. , •
Twenty tables were devoted to
bridge, while' forty-five tables were
required for the euchre players.
As was previously announced, the
'Stokes Family Orchestra made their
first appearance before a Huron aud-
ience, and needless to say, they met
with a very enthusiastic reception.
Their music was of the highest order,
and every number was very heartily
applauded. There are six members
of the family in the company, and
each one of them, including the little
six year old tot, executed their parts.
wonderfully well.
At the conclusion .of the card and
bridge games, refreshments were
served in a manner that could not but
satisfy -the most fastidious. Daneing
followed until 12 O'clock, when the

Notes
President R. C. King is a live wire'
and an up-to-date presiding officer.
Walter Buchanan won the gentle-
men's Ist prize in bridge, while 'Mrs.
Buchanan won the ladies' ist prize.
High class playing and a lucky name.
That big hearted Honorary Presi-
dent, J. A. McLaren, donated the eof-
fee and it was real coffee. Nearly
everybody went bask for two more
cups.
Harry Stotvd' won the' 1st prize in
progressive euchre and Harry is some
player tobeat that bunch:
Mrs. D. Thompson andhercommit
tee deserve special mention for the
very systematic and satisfactory man-
ner in which the refreshments were
served. Not a hitch and everybody
well served. Mrs. Thompson could
easily give some pointers to some of
our high class city caterers.
Secretary Floody meet one; of his
pupils of Tipperary :school of forty
years ago, and it was some( meeting
and some greeting.
Mr. D. 11. Wilson and Mrs, H. 13.
Stowe supervised the card games,
while Hon. President Bert McCreath
kept everything moving.
The music was good and everybody
appreciated it to their hearts' con-
tent. Mr. and Mrs. Stokes must have
been proud of their family, and well
they might, because it is a rare oc-.
euirence to have six born musicians
in one family.
Much sympathy was expressed for
Mrs. King, wife of our popular presi-
dent, and Mrs. H. 1. Morrish; who
were both detained at home on ac-
count of illness, They were both'
rnu h missed.
Gar. Vanstone, formerly mayor of'
Wingham, but now a prominent busi-
ness man of Toronto, was one of the
busiest men on the job. "Gar" is a
genuine hustler when there is any
work to be done,
The annual At Home of the Assoc-
iation, "The" Big Meet" will be held
in the Foresters' Temple, corner of
Bay and Richmond streets, on Thurs-
day evening, January 29th, 1928. The
puroceedings will be broadcast by
OFCA, and the program will be of the
highest order. It is expected that a
large number Of visitors from the Old
County will be present gt this big an-
nual gathering of the clans.
There seems to be a. great longing
for the old time square dances with
the old time "Caller off" and the feel-
ing is that this should be made a fea-
ture at the annual at-home in Jan-
uary.
