SUCCESSFUL BAZAAR,
Tho W, A. of Wesley -Willis church
held a bazaar in the Sunday schobl
rooms, which were very prettily dec-
orated in green and red, Christmas
colors, on Friday afternoon last.
There 'were just _ three booths, the
Christmas Gift Shop, Homemade Bak-
ing and Gandy Afternoon tea wap
also served The day was pleasant
and many °visited the sale; every ar-
ticle being• disopsed of before the af-
ternoon ended.
MONDAY'S CONCERT. -
On Monday evening a very exeel-
Ient entertainment was given in Wes.;
ley-Wiillis-'chureh, under the auspices
of, the Young "Peoples' Society.
The -program was given by Ethel
Grainger, contralto soloist, and Pearl
Newton, elocutionist and- imperson-
ator, both artists of a high' order,
Miss Grainger possesses e voice of
power and sweetness and her selec-
tions' were very ranch appreciated.
Some were grave and some gay, but
all were pleasing and very charming-
ly' rendered: Mrs. Morgan Agnew
acted as" accompanist --in her most
sympathetic and accomplished 1nan-
ner.

"We often read in the newspapers,"
said Supt. Chant to The 'News -Re-
cord yesterday, "reports of fires from
defective electric wiring and we are
apt to doubt it. The Public Utilities
Coinnussion'has:'had two cases where
the squirrels - have been in the at}tie
and hare teru he insulation off the
wire, and where, the bate wires have
touched and fused together and blown
out; the fuses.
To fuse the ;;wires together, they.
must have been melted and there
would have been quite • a flash. The
squirrels' nest was quite near one of
these places, and the wonder is that 'a
fire did not start in the attic.'
In modern wiring, the wire is kept
some distance a,p;art' and protected,
but' in the old "eine ,otyle of wiring;
