Mr. Henderson was in Clinton when the fire started and was immediately summoned . but when he : arrived it was impossible to do anything. But neighbors had gathered and a num- ber of pigs which were housed in the stables beneath were liberated, al- though a few were burned, The Loss is a serious one as• all the season's crop was destroyed and the barn was practically new, as it had been raised and a foundation with 'stabling put under as well as an addition added only a few. years ago. Johns, who with her daughter, Mabelle, moved recently to Alvinston, was a visitor to friends in the village on Sunday afternooh, Mr. John Workman, who recently purchased the MaolCeniie property in the village, moved into the house on Tuesday, After having the inside freshly painted and now has a very nice and comfortable home, Mrs. Workman is still in the hospital but is progressing favorably. Mr, Chas. Cooper and wife of the village went to London on Saturday last with Mr, J. Workman, • -Coderich Township Mr. Gilbert Mair', one of Goderich township's well-known residents, passed his eighty-first milestone on Friday.last, Sept, 30th.
