The death occurred on Wednesday,
•Sept. 14th, of Jacob Marsba'fi, a life-
long
resident* of this township. He
was a on. of the late Tohn Mayshall
of the Bayfield Line and resided on
the farm on which Ise was born until
eeeehe was called house, In polities Mr.
Marshall was a staunch Conservative
and in religion an Anglican, being- a
Member of St. James' church, Middle-

The funeral, which was private,
took place on Friday afternoon from
the home of his brother-in-law, ,

conducted by the Rev. L. C. Harrison,
rector of St. Paul's church, Clinton.

a big car crowded him off the road, and
into the ditch. The car, turned over

The 'Centre Section of Raton Pres-
byterial of the W. M. S. of the United
'Church, held n. Missionary Confer-
ence in Brueefield United Church, on
Friday, Sept. 1611i. Il irs. Lane of
Seaforth presided during the morn-
ing session. ' Devotional: exercises
were conducted by Mrs. Penrose of
Varna. The minutes of the last
meeting were ;read ., by Meg. A. T.
Cooper, and were al3proved.

'The reports, of the 'Auxiliaries,
Circles and Bands'' were all helpful
and encouraging, Several auxiliaries
had •put on pageants of - "Jubilee
Year,"' several had raised half of
their allotment and all were hopeful:
of reaching their objective by the end
of the year, The report of Egtnond-
-ville Auxiliary was deemed worthy of
special mention. Seaforth Auxiliary
has still the -largest membership;

Miss Hume of Goderich; :secretary
of Yontg' Women's Auxiliaries,`
' Circles, and C.G.I.T. groups, reported,
two new Circles. She made a strong
appeal to`the"Auxiliaries for help in
;providing leaders for the young wo-,
men; suggested , that each, group
should 'choose its own inotto,:and
really study the works of tnissionar``
-ies on the field,. The ideal group .,:.is
one in which the leader studies with
the girls, until all become deeply in-
- terested in missions. She woulcl hot
stress "giving" as much as "learning"
"Because so many of these girls are
still in school. But all' may learn to
deny themselves in order to- help on.

The Presbytery of Huron met in
the 'United church, Wroxeter, on Sept.
10th,1.927, Rev. J. E. Hogg; B,A.,
chairman of Presbytery,' presiding. ,

mittee of Presbytery ill releasing

Andrew's charge, Myth, in order that
he might uccept a call to Frederick -
ton, N.B., was confirmed by Prosby.

The Secretary of Presbytery was
requested to furnish a synapsis of.
the minutes of Presytery meetings to

Presbytery with a request for inser-
tion; also a copyto the rew Ou-
look," Toronto. It was ordered that
four copies of the abbreviated Min-
utes be, printed and sent to each
minister in the Presbytery in charge
of a circuit.,
Owing,to ill ieaith Rev, J. A. Fer-
guson, B.A., presented his resignation
from the McXiIlop charge. Members
of his eongregation Spoke concerning
his faithful work amongst them and
tributes of respect were given by sev-
eral brother ministers, Presbytery
reluctantly accepted„ his resignation
and appointed the members of the
Presbytery Settlement Committee to
consult.: with the congregations and
make arrangementsfor 'supply until
suchtime as a successor is secured.
In future lay members as well as
ministers will receive notice of Pres-
bytery meetings, ,

charges where the salary paid is be-
low $1,7,00 be recommended to the
Home Missionary Committee :fora
grant. of $50. each.
Rev W.. D.' McDonald preientecl the
report of the Maintenance and Extep-
Sion Fund Committee. It was decid-
ed to divide the Presbytery Into five
district-Wingham, Goderich, Chu-
te)), Walton :: and 'Exeter with the
charges immediately ` surrounding,
and that conferences beheld if 'pos-
sible,during October in each district.
That members of the District Colii-
nlittee, where possible,' ; meet the Of-'
ficial Boards, and confer with thein as
to the hest meats of reaching theirallocations, and that an every -person
canvass be held on each charge.
Rev, Dr, Oliver, of Saskatoon; was
introduced to ,Fresbytery and gave a
most interesting and thrilling address
on the Home Mission 'work of the
church- in the West and the need >;of
the Maintenance and Extension fund
to support this work.
