A suggestion that he be instructed as: to where he should' sit In the House, if elected, was not carried out. Tho Liberal party is not in very high favor -with North Huron U. F: 0. at the moment, owing to the extreme promptness with which the former called its convention after the death of, John • W.. King, M.P., and nominated Atch. Hyslop, ex-M.L.A., hist Friday. Fearing that. with -both Liberal and U. F, 0. candidates in the field a Contervative might slip inapromin- ent 13. F. 0. members inaaired two delegates this afternoon to move a resolution tailing for negotiations with the Liberals, and, if -successful, then with the 'Conservative§'with a view to obviating a eontest. This nes tabled, William J. Henderson, o`f Morris, who. delivered one of several able ad- dresses, emphasized the fact that the U. F. 0. stood for riding autonomy. "The Liberal ,organiser," he•said, "was at Goderich the day ` after the late member's funetal, and ordered a convention called quickly. At the Wingham convention he promised there he would send them ministers and apeakers, and try' to elect their candidate. Mr. gyslop, if he goes to Ottawa, goes bought and.. paid for, not representing, North Huron, but to vote as he is told. That is what it monis ender , the old system of political -2attion," . Resentment was strengthened , by the -fact that the Nerth„ Huron -- seat had lreen held f, by a Progressive„ and there were. expressions of opin- ion that an acelamatiou ought to have been given the ndminee of the party, especially as new isaues had not arisen since the general election. The resolution authorizing'negotia- tins with the Liberals was moved by J. E. Thompsoritand,Thomas G. Shear- er and spoken in by A. A. Powers, of St. Pauls, Perth County, who was present at the Convention to urge this line of aetion. It was only by s. dose vote that Mr. Powers was al - owed to Ocala and his viewpoitt, said to be that or -certain prominent U. F, O. men, was opposed by Presi- dent Rutherford, R.
