The circular embodied suggestions

1. A children's picnie in every cam -
unity in the dominion on July lst.
2. `Ten thousand beacon fires to be
in every city, town and hamlet

hated the 0. T. A. cannot. be denied
and that alone was "sufficient to cause
friends of truetemperance to hesitste.
to vete against it.
However, Hon. Howard Ferguson
•made- set many promises of a strict
control of the traffic, if he were given
permission to pass, such a law as he
wished 'to frame, that many who were
tired of the confusion and the partial
failure to enforce.the 0. T. A. voted
for the Premier's proposed measure.
These people, as' well as those who
were opposed to it and who voted
against it, will require that the prom-
ises made be carried out,

.1 wish to express my heartiest ap-
preciation 'of
ap-preciation.''of ,the splendid support
given me"on Dec. 1st. And 'especially
do I wish to' thank the large numiber
of workers who through faithful work
:during the campaign and on election

In so far as Huron County is con-
cerned
oncerned the new law will probably not
apply, this county being, under the
Canada Temperance Act, several lo-
calities being ander -local option, when
that act was passed. In the erection
last week the municipalities in the
county, with a few exceptions, gave
majorities against the Premier's pro-
posed 'liquor law, and against that
alone, as it is altogether likely that
had that not been the issue Govern-
ment supporters ',would have been
elected, Huron elected three Govern-
ment supporters to the last parlia-
ment by comfortable majorities. This
ought to be taken by the Government
to mean that -tate people in this county
wish the liquor question handled
strictly.. - No doubt it will be so taken.
The truth is being borne in on the
consciousness o'f the 'people 'that" no
effective method of handling the,
liquor question can be devised by the
Province while the manufacture is
permitted to go on without curtail-
ment. Ir provinces where the people
wish the sale controlled the manufac-
ture should be materially cut clown.
