The monthly meeting of the wo-
men's Institute was ]geld in the com-
munity hall on Tuesday, July 2nd, with
sixty -One in attendance, the president
in the chair.'The-meeting was opened
by singing., the opening "Ode." Miss
Lyon led in prayer -and the Lord's
prayer.' was repeated in unison, ;Busi-
ness was then transacted. Miss Mary
Cartwright gavela• paper on shrubs,

trees and flowers, these young ladies,
having attended the short -course held
recently at Guelph. Miss Alberta

There passed away In Londesboro.
on :Sunday week a much respected
resident of this district in the person
of Jobe Wells, He had beenconfined
to the house for some time and his
death was; not unexpected. The date
Mr. Wells was aged sixty years and
for quite a ooneiderable time be had
been engaged in famine; on the 13th
concession of Hallett. He was
mar-
ried to Jean Knot:, daughter, of the
late R. H. and MTs. Knox. of -Blyth,
who eredeceased him 28,years ago.
To this anion was bora one Son: Mr.
Archie Wells, now of Toronto. Some
three,years ago, owing to Moms, s, Mr.
Wolfs came into Londesboro, to live,
malting his home with Mrs M. Mains.

CHANGES IN -ELECTION LAW'
• Seine important changes were.made
in the election law by the legislature
last session: The length of time a
person has' to be domiciled in a.con-
stituency is reduced from three to
two months; polling booths,wilI be,
kept open till 7 o'cldck instead of fi;
if a candidate decides to retire after
time ballots. are printed the Clerk of
the Peace is to be notified and a not-
ice mist be posted up in the polling
booths. The eommittee recommended
that the number of- names on'nomina-
tion.papets may be reduced from 100 -
to 50. Premier Ferguson objected
to this last ' recommendation as it
might tend to get irresponsible can-
didates and the amendment was lost.
JTEN'SALL: The -members of Hen -
sail Lodge, No. 228 I. 0. 0. F., held
their annual decoration service Sun-
day afternoon. With the Citizens'
Band in attendance the brethren'gath-
ered at the , soldier's' monument in
front of the town hall, Past Noble
Grand Robert D. Bell, of Tuekersmith
township, presiding. A splendid ad-
dress was given by 1'. N. G. William
MacKay, following which D. D. G. M.
Moore, of •Clinton, on behalf of the
local lodge, placed a beautiful wreath,
on the. monument. The„ party'then'
proceeded bit motor cars to Hensel
Union -Cemetery, where the ceremony
was continued with Past - Grande
MacKay and G 3. Sutherland, in
charge. • .Inspiring addresses were
